As a neutral (Bulls fan from Newcastle), I can really see the stance Grendal has taken. A side he followed through the promotions and disaster that was last year has been taken away from him. The same happened with Gateshead Thunder when it became Hull FC in 1999 (incidently Gateshead becomming Hull involved the same distance for its former fans to travel, it alienated the fanbase it really had started to build up).
I can only hope this South Wales side has more direction to it, as if Rugby League in South Wales was a good idea in '08, then it still is now. And no-one has ever answered my question of when excatly North Wales became a strategic area for Rugby League.
Will be following the Scorpions progress and wish you well.
I can happily report that the board / benefactors we have now at Scorpions are doing everything right that the Celtic Crusaders management did wrong.
We have a squad I can confidently say will be competitive in our League, a proven well respected coach (unofficially right now) and a board that actually talk to the fans and involve them.
Our kit isn't the most desirable one i've seen, but that is a small small thing.
Good luck also the Bulls this year. Your welcome of the Celtic Crusaders last year was incredibly warm and second to none.
Hopefully in a few years, we can come see you with the new, well managed Scorpions team (when we're actually READY for SL this time)
haha yeah didn't enjoy being part of Celtic's history as their first super league victim, but the better side won that day. I stayed behind to applaud the feat, as did a lot of us.
You had a small but vocal fanbase, and I was sorry for you guys when it got taken away in the fashion that it did. I never got why fans of Widness, 'Fax etc. came on the old CC boards to go on about the deportations and move North. There were many people responsible for the mess but the fans were blameless throughout.
No idea what the song would consist of, but bet a few along the lines of what you came out with above will be thought of if/when (probably when) Crusaders don't make the 2012 SL.
