| Quote: Dally "The EU destroys small business in favour of big, via regulatory costs. Even in the SE so many local economies have faded in favour of London's big businesses.
The current EU emphasis of the UK makes the SE corner and Eastern seaports more wealthy at the expenses of the N and W (a process which has been clear since EUmembership).
EU subsidies are simply a partial recycling of the UKs own money. Politicians will no longer be able to hide behind the EU being the causes of our ills (a stance which caused them to lose the referendum!) but actually take responsibility for their own country and trying to assist in stimulating regional economies. A start would be to equalise infrastructure spending.'"
Bloody hell Nigel, you are clutching at straws on this one.
Small businesses have been the major boost to the UK economy since the Banking crisis and they are the primary reason for the current jobs growth in the UK.
There is a major risk, that would have a massive effect on London's influence and that is, IF the EU wishes to move a hefty slice of its financial services away from the UK.
After all, it will have a responsibility to it's member nations and wont give a tinkers toss about the UK.
In fact, there are some parties in the EU that will take great pleasure in damaging the country that has put the skids under the Euro zone.

Are you really of the opinion that the monies currently doled out by the E.U. will be distributed fairly throughout the Kingdom once the "Westminster Gang" get their grubby hands on it?
Personally I don't think they'll give a tinker's cuss.

He's living in la la land isn't he.
The cronies in Westminster could already be distributing funds fairly and evenly now & in the past - why on Earth would their attitudes change once the EU funding stops? Utter nonsense. Looking at the funds Westminster controls already and it's likely to get far worse for many areas.
Council funding?
Infrastructure?
Flood defences?
Yeh but if we leave the EU the pricks running the country will suddenly make everything fair and nice

| The map & pie chart almost look like decisions are being made so as to adversely effect whether people vote Labour

See my previous post. Surely an endeavour to correct major imbalances.

That question doesn't even make sense, what are you going on about?
Do you even understand the map on that link (from 8 and a half years ago)? It's public spending as a % of GDP in that area.
WE ALL KNOW London has a much higher GDP per capita than anywhere else, it's not news to anyone, you've not made any kind of point there, and it's probably to do with decades of London-centric governments pumping money in and legislating in London's favour.
The reality is quite the opposite to what you're asserting really - the spending levels vs GDP from that 2008 map ARE "correcting the huge imbalance". The huge imbalance was already there Dally, following decades of underfunding and legislation that crippled those areas.

If they invested as much in those areas as they did in London there wouldn't be such "imbalances".

It depends on who you want to listen to.
Farage doesn't think too much of him and he seemed very happy to see him go.
However, toff or otherwise, he was considered to be the best that we (the UK) had to deal with negotiations and it appears that maybe, those paying his wages, didn't like what he was telling them.
IF he was the best person for that role, necessarily, the person stepping into his shoes wont be quite as good and in this respect, we may end up worse off.
As I said, it depends who you want to listen to.
The one certainty is that leaving the EU, whilst simple in theory is far from straight forward.
Untangling 40 years of ties was never going to be easy, unless we have bottomless pockets and even more money to burn.
The other comment about a lack of plan and strategy from the government, regarding a Leave vote, is just shocking.
Cameron must have told "his people" not to bother as "we" would vote remain.

This lot don't seem to bothered
I cant believe that a pro leave newspaper would print such an article
As I said, it depends on your view point as to whether or not the guy was any good but,
nobody would employ him in that role if he was as bad as "your" article suggests.
Therefore, you have to try and read between the lines and it seems obvious that he believes things
to be far more complicated than Farage, who doesn't seem bothered about our prosperity as long as we are out
of the EU.
