| Quote: TFC "I agree, I think though, that the last 6 years of gaming as a whole has been the worst in comparison to years gone by. Very little innovation in comparison to Snes-PS2/Xbox era.
I no longer get a "wow" factor from a new game or haven't for quite some time.'"
Is it not just people getting old that causes that?
If you've got kids and see the reactions they have, it's the same wonder and excitement I had 20 years ago when playing Cannon Fodder for the first time. I still see plenty of 'Oh my god, oh my god, you can do this! LOOK!' types of reactions from the kids in my house.

| There's a huge amount of innovation within the gaming industry; a booming indie scene; free games (in app purchase business model); commonplace DLC; shift to online multiplayer; developing potential of cloud gaming; and gaming actually being cheaper than ever before (new titles ~£25 within a few months of their release, huge discounts on Steam, many titles less than £10 in a massive pre-owned market).
Its a bit like the movie/music industry though, as things become more mainstream the large publishers seem to dominamate by contiunually pushing out more of the same, getting the big reviews, popularising through advertising.
However if you search around, even just through Xbox arcade or Steam, there's loads of innovation around in terms of games/gameplay.
Sometimes, however, you just need to take a chance, and stray away from just playing titles that score >80% on Metacritic, to uncover something that appeals to you.

No, just as a demonstration of "innovation", noting both the negative applications (map packs, extra kits, poorly designed additional levels) and positive ones (hundreds of extra tracks for Rockband, GTA 4 LATD/ BOGT).

| Oculus Rift is where its at now. I have one of these bad boy dev kits and the possibilities are endless. Imagine GTA where you are actually in the game. This will be possible in a few years. Even the EVE online dog fighting game that is available now, its amazing. An absolute surreal experience.

I bought a PS3 just to play the Uncharteds and TLOU as I'm an Xbox man with a 360 and Xbone.
The Last of Us was emotionally and physically draining. I loved it. Best game on all consoles.

It's not just a cod clone in space, it's actually more of an mmo shooter where you're encouraged to join up with friends and play through the story missions.
There is a competitive arena as well, but you're not forced into it.
The game looks stunning and is a lot of fun to play; think of it as a cross between borderlands and mass effect.'"
Looking forward to this. Does it have single player or just multiplayer?

I think you could probably play the game by yourself if you just didn't sign into the playstation network.
Alternatively you could be signed in and still be by yourself, but you'd see other players running around doing their own thing.

| So Capcom are milking the Resi Evil cash cow again with a "HD" makeover for the Gamecube version of Resi 1. I like the overall idea but these HD re-releases are already starting to look a little tired with the lack of effort that goes in to them (no, I'm not at all still bitter that the Goldeneye re-release was ****). Capcom have stated they aren't going to change anything other than the graphics (so a slight dusting off the edges then) and apparently the camera angle. I hope it's cheap.
In an attempt to foster some debate, which Xbox / PS1 gen game would you like to see spruced up and re-released? I'd love to see someone re-release Premier Manager or LMA Manager with updated databases... Football Manager is far too geeky and time-consuming for my tastes. Jonah Lomu Rugby as well...

I'd like to see the old Micro Machines games come back, as well as the Hot Wheels games that I spent far too many hours playing as a kid.
I probably didn't play enough of the great games on the PS1/PS2, I spent so much time playing Fifa and playing multiplayer games with my mates that most people wouldn't find memorable.
My PS1 used to be chipped and my neighbour used to sell chipped games, he used to give me all of the new games he got to trial them so he could tell people what the game was like. Still remember struggling to explain the perks of Pepsiman to him.

| Would it be too cliched to say 'Final Fantasy 7'?
On a seperate note, I got myself a SNES emulator for my PC, almost solely just to re-live the glory of Cannon Fodder. Not played it since I was 13 ('9icon_cool.gif, and I thought being 16years older would make it easier, but hell no, it's still bloody brutal. One of my all-time favourites though

| Vagrant Story, PS1 game from 2000 would be worth a re-work. Lots of mythology in it, and a pity it never got a sequel.

| Instead of the Retron 5 I decided to go for the Super Retro Trio console. Plays less formats, but NES, SNES and MegaDrive is enough for me, and only £80 inc delivery. Going game hunting at the local market tommorow.

| Forgot to add, am currently playing FIFA International Soccer (SNES version). Okay the kids would find it 'ancient' these days (or whatever similar term they use - God I sound and kinda feel old at 31!) but as an 11 year old in 1994 it felt revolutionary at the time, and in 2014 it's still fun to play.

I have the same feelings towards FIFA98: Road to the World Cup, which as I remember it was a big step on from the previous FIFA games, even of the same generation.
