Quote: JerryChicken "Why on earth would you join a club that you don't believe in ?'"
Because while fundamentalists reject the scientific they also claim that there own religious beliefs are supported by science. Hence why you get organisations such as Answers in Genesis and the Institute of Creation Research publishing books and articles which claim that the scientific evidence supports a young earth a global flood etc. which do little more than misrepresent and distort the work of real scientists.
The problem with this is that a lot of people who perhaps do not have a basic understanding of science believe that such works by for instance "Professor Henry M. Morris PHD." are scientific because the person who wrote it has a PHD and calls themselves a scientists, even if it is a PHD in an irrelevant field such as engineering and the "scientist" in questions has never published any actual scientific research in any peer reviewed journals.
