I didn't say that.
Anymore than I didn't say no trips on the Tregeurn or no snorkelling or no canoeing.

| Has anyone been to the "old town" of Faro, Portugal ?
I have to say on Google Earth I'm not over-impressed, is it worth a morning or an all day visit ?
I'm particularly interested in architecture and authentic "oldness".

| I've just returned from completing the West Highland Way with my 14 year daughter and brother in law. We were really lucky in that we only had any serious rain on the second day of the Loch Lomond stretch and even that cleared up shortly after we had passed Inversnaid. The highlights were, the evening spent in the lounge of the Kingshouse hotel gazing out at Buachaille Etive Mor and the following morning's hike in superb weather. From the top of the Devil's staircase we were rewared with fantastic views of Glen Coe and in the other direction we could see all the way to the cloud free summit of Ben Nevis.

I'd guess that's a "no" then!
I've got a week in Lisbon, Portugal in July, which looks to have some nice old stuff.

I doubt you'll regret that.
Lisbon is just not like anywhere else, it is what it is, and what it is is utterly fascinating.
Just watch out for pickpockets on the trams.
An official guide for a day is well worth the small cost, gets you straight into the history.

| Work is taking me to the Greek part of Cyprus for 6 months.
Clearly this is going to double as a holiday, particularly as I don't expect there to actually be much work to do.
Not been for about 15 years. Anyone got any advice on where to go / avoid?

Expect things to be considerably more expensive than your last visit then! Since they joined the Euro everything has jumped ridiculously in price.
Depends what you're looking for really. Ayia Napa is still a great place for a night out, without the stag/hen parties and scrapping Brits you get in other Mediterranean hotspots. Protaras is also a great little coastal town and a bit more laid back. The tourist areas have seen a major influx of young wealthy Russians recently - make of that what you will...
I'd also recommend a trip north of the border if you have plenty time on your hands. Crossing into Turkish Occupied Cyprus is now a lot easier and there's no obvious hostility. We went to Kyrenia on the north coast, there's some really good restaurants down by the harbour.

Really fancy Bali. How much is that costing you, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm going with a friend & her friends. I looked at flying direct but it was going to be around £850-£1k but my friend lives in Bangkok so flying there with Emirates then on from there after a few days with Air Asia, flights altogether cost about£750
Hotel were going to sort out soon but there's plenty of cheap(ish) options out there
Altogether I'm there just under two weeks

| Just sorted 7 days on a converted trawler next June, sailing from Stromness and taking in wreck diving at Scapa Flow and scenic dives around Orkneys and Shetlands. Might even get some walking and photography in on an evening. Luverly !!
