| Quote: Charlie Sheen "We have 23 months left to negotiate leaving the European union, and she's decided to waste 2 of those months on an election when the Tories are already in power. To me, it shows that May and the rest couldn't give a toss about the people they're meant to serve.
It's been a shambles from the government so far. All they've done is reel out the soundbite about 'strong and stable leadership' (although, they've created a 5hit load of instability by calling this election), but they've not done much talking on policy,'"
Nothing will happen on negotiations until after the German election in October so I can't see that she is wasting any time. I do think something does need to be done otherwise the team doing the negotiating simply don't have any solid platform to start from.
As soon as the election is over things will settle down and then the government can get on with the business of leaving the EU with a good as deal as they can

| Quote: Dally "The election just got more interesting, the right wing press - Sun, Mail, etc laying into May saying she'll increase foreign aid, stop pensions increasing, tax the middle class, etc. I suppose they're trying to force her hand on policy but surely she can't do yet another U-turn and be considered a credible leader. Corbyn should get up North and S otland on the stump and on social media. He could win yet.'"
Corbyn will NEVER win a GE, NEVER.
Europe will play a massive part in the GE and we could see the Tories start to split (over what kind of Brexit they want) but, there is nobody else capable of running the country, which is a crying shame.
Tony Blair, who will never be forgiven for his part in the middle east conflict, at least, understood that, your party's policies have to have mass appeal (even if that meant moving to the centre of the political spectrum).
Corbyn seems to think that going back to the 1930 will be good for the country.
He is just plain deluded and is already moving to protect his position as party leader, rather than rallying centre-left political support.

It just shows that she knows her majority of 18 will be decimated if the 30 Tory MP's who are facing criminal charges over election fraud are charged; this is a cynical move designed to get the election home and hosed just before the cases go to court.

| Corbyn typifies everything about Labour , stuck in the dark ages, jealous of anyone with success, wants a handout society funded by people that work hard. He cant even give a decent speech, press conference etc. The days of politicians "serving" anyone but themselves are long gone. Westminster would make some great appartments, move the lot to an industrial estate in Slough, then see what politicians actually want to do the job, stop paying a silly salary, imagine how much 10 Downing Street could be sold for...

| Labour are committed to Trident but their leader will never press the button!!
So what is the point of having a perceived deterrent if it will never be used even if somebody uses on us - its bonkers.
Labour are committed to unilateral dis-armourment but Donald is thinking I'm with you Jeremy and you can Putin going that's a great idea!!
This is a party full of unrealistic idealists with a leader that doesn't actually agree with half the policies!!

I'm not sure this is the issue that BBC journo's would like you to believe; he refuses to be drawn on stupid hypothetical questions about nuclear war, which they insist on asking him as it exposes a perceived weakness - but I think most people take comfort from a politician who is opposed to nuclear weapons, and won't glibly agree that he'll press a button to incinerate millions of people just because Andrew Marr asks him.
Interesting week for Labour - Corbyn appears to have thrown off the shackles and has been a confident and relaxed performer in the media; whilst Theresa May hides from them, refuses TV debates, and arranges closed events.
Maybe the GE will not be the unopposed landslide that some are predicting?

Give over for God sake. He is a buffoon who has no credible policies, plans or anything of value to add. Did you see the first Labour press conference after the GE announcement? It was embarrassingly shambolic. The lady who was leading on it was comical to say the least.
One of the Labour MP's on the box this weekend said he wouldn't be inviting Jezza to his constituency, wouldn't endorse him but would fight on for Labour and try and hang on to his seat. What an absolute mess.

Nonetheless - who predicted Brexit, or Trump?
There appears to be a move towards protest, anti-establishment voting recently, and if Corbyn and his advisors keep scoring goals at May's expense as she hides from the media, you just never know.
I guess the Murdoch/Tory media will go into overdrive in the coming weeks - but stranger things have, very recently, happened!

| TM doesn't need to come out and risk tripping herself up. As you have suggested the press will back her and she will roll out the big hitters who surround her where there is a goal to be had like she did today with Fallon on the Defence issue that Labour messed up on this weekend.
There is no chance of a Trump/Brexit result with this one. TM is seen as a steady pair of hands who can represent Britain during Brexit and on that alone she will win handsomely. She will get the UKIP support back plus in some cases Labour supporters. She isn't seen as a Eton Conservative more someone with a decent moral compass.

We appear to have diverted from a conversation about the political landscape - to your personal beliefs about Mrs May; which I don't share, and neither do lots of other people.
She's proven herself to be as dishonest and opportunist as most people trying to gather power - not least by breaking the Fixed Term Parliament Act in calling a snap election, and there's quite a movement against her on that basis; even some of her loyal press have broken ranks since the latest manifesto pledge they've pledged to undo, is raising taxes.
I can see lots of the criticism of Corbyn - he's idealistic and significantly less media savvy than most modern politicians; but he doesn't strike me as dishonest, and at a time when swathes of the public are anti-politics, that could strike a chord.
I may be entirely wrong, but I may not be; we do, after all, live in interesting times.

We currently have the lowest number of public holidays in the G20 - lower even than Japan, and they don't seem to have a problem with productivity. And a Government report has estimated that a BH injects around a billion quid into the economy - so not as potty as you would like to think.
I think you may be falling for the outrage that the Daily Mail want you to feel.

Its easy to look at an issue with one eye and not see the flip side. Japan might be entitled to more public holidays but work longer hours and don't have as many holidays as UK- but hey what does that matter, as Jezza says Japan gets 19 days a year PH

Sadly we don't as this is going to be an unprecedented landslide victory for TM who will have a free reign to rule how she wishes. Only a few don't see this. You being one, although I detect an undertone in your posts seeming to suggest you know what the outcome will be.
