| The nurse was also the first thing I thought about as well. Never mind disturbing the privacy of a troubled pregnancy, those giggling idiots placed the nurse in an impossible situation - does she challenge someone when there's the possibility it might be the Queen?? No, of course she bloody doesn't. She's clearly terrified, you can hear the nerves in her voice, and she's made a mistake which hit global headlines and embarrassed the hospital.
She probably spent the last day terrified, confused and overwhelmed, fearful of what it may mean to her employment (though it appears the hospital weren't taking any action), and highly embarrassed.
I like a good prank as much as anyone but this was extremely ill-advised from the start and the consequences have turned tragic, resulting in family losing a wife and mother. A terribly sad chain of events.

That is the nature of pranks. You are making your judgement with the benefit of hindsight.
Most people me included felt at the time it was quite funny and ridiculous.
If we could judge everything with the benefit of hindsight the world would be a much better place.

Funny?.....It was about as funny as the clap - I can't believe that tinpot radio stations still do the 'prank call' routine. Even in the 80's, when this sort of thing was at its peak, it was never particularly amusing, unless your idea of funny is the tedious Jeremy Beadle-style of comedy.
Hopefully, this episode will finish it off, once and for all.

So pranks are not funny, Trigger happy TV, Dom Joly, Dennis Pennis , Mark Dolan, Balls of Steel, Sacha Baron Cohen have all being doing Prankster humour since the 1980s etc etc are not funny.
That is the thing about humour some people like it some dont.
You are probably so far up your own being superior you can just write off a whole comedy Genre.

Bllocks. Just a moment's thought and a hint of common sense would have told them this 'prank' was a bad idea. It's excruciatingly obvious that ringing a hospital ward at 5am and duping hospital staff with the intention of disturbing a sick woman going through a troubled pregnancy and obtaining private medical information is NOT a good idea. At what point did someone think, 'yes, what an inspired concept, let's do it'.
Never mind the potential for causing stress to the sick patient and their baby, what about the nurses they placed in an impossible situation? Perhaps they might have considered these things for a moment?
A prank call is the likes of Steve Penk answering a classified ad for a moped and trying to buy a mop head (still makes me crack up). Not this. You prank call friends, pizza shops, supermarkets, etc - not a hospital ffs.
But you thought it was funny? What was funny about it?
And a glance at most social media sites yesterday would have told you most people didn't find it funny at all, probably because most people have brains. It was pretty poorly received in general.

Humour like that depends massively on the target, which is why Dom Joly, Dennis Pennis and Sasha Baron Cohen were often funny, but could also be painfully unfunny.
Two tinpot dj's targeting a nurse doing a honest day's work, and a nurse who didn't seem to have English as a first language at that, was not humourous in the slightest.....It actually came across as almost patronising bullying in the manner they tried to demean those they spoke to.

I listened to the one where they rang up in the early hours and asked to "speak to Kate, my granddaughter".
Perhaps you're hearing what you want to hear.

What a massive over reaction. How were they to know that the person answering the phone apparently didn't have English as their first language? Also, this nurse did not give any information out, that was someone else. In the clip I heard they did not sound patronising or bullying at all (of course you may think that the Queen sounds patronising and bullying), not funny I'll give you.

| What was funny was the ridiculousness of it all.
The two Aussies using the most ridiculous impersonation of the queen, them laughing at each other that they got through, them taking the out of the establishment, them taking the mickey out of the press for conflating such a non story.
All those things had comedic merit to them whether youy like it or not is irrelevant. Those in authority are a legitimate target to poke fun at.
All this crap about targeting an bullying the nurse is ridiculous.
And as for Cronus saying most people did not find it funny does that really surprise when you look at British media sites to find British people dont like johhny Foreigner taking the mickey out of a British monarchy. That is because the monarchy are set up as being above us.
I see you have already fallen for the poor saintly little Kate.
No doubt you have her picture sat next to your one of Saint Diana.
