Because Britain is, and always has been, a dirty, stinking, racist, transphobic, homophobic sh*t hole, voting Labour will fix all that because it's all they care about

Here we have the classic, tragic legacy of Trumpian politics. Even when the team you support is proven corrupt and incompetent and deceitful they want you to not even think anyone could do better.
What a toxic mess.

Think you will find back in January at PMQ - accepted full responsibility.
Police state ?? - Oh Jeez please.
But not one solitary reason to vote Labour.
Quite possibly one of the worst governments in history,my word did this government get lucky, faced with the worst opposition in history.
Its no good bleating "dont vote for them if you want a better country" - The electorate need to see what the vision of "better" looks like and how it would be achieved with a Labour government, something that seems lost on you.'"
Plenty of forgiveness here for Bojo & Co
You are right that every government wastes money, to say otherwise would be naive.
However, what we haven't seen in my lifetime, is the blatant nepotism, jobs for the boys, friends and family.
Huge cash payments to friends and associates and the daily lies and U turns on such a regular bassis.
Whilst fully accepting that we are in quite extraordinary times, Bojo & Co are literally "pleasing themselves" and are being allowed to do so.
In "normal" times the media would "shame" them into acting and on occasion this is happening but, Bojo is getting away very lightly for his many poor judgement calls and poor leadership.
Clearly, I dont want people to suffer or die but, "freedom day" will hopefully be a turning point and the full opening up just looks bloody reckless.
As to who else could do better. Well, anyone IMO.
However, it does show just how far Labour have disappeared up their own backsides, that they aren't good enough to fully expose Bojo & Co and make some ground in the polls.
I've said before that proper judgement on this lot will only come when they begin to balance the books but, for now, they are still digging a fiscal hole and with interest rates on their borrowing likely to increase, the 10 years of austerity that we had from 2007 are going to look like the good times.

This is an excellent post - maybe I am older than you but Wilson caved in to unions when he won power in 1974 and Blair just spent and spent on the public sector until he ran out of money - they had to wreck everyone's pension to keep spending and the less said of the gold sale the better. Blair was more interested in his own role after he left - his attitude to the EU suggested he was after the EU Commissioner's job in a big way.
I do think yesterday's stuff shows his utter contempt for UK citizens - it was an absolute disgrace.
On freedom day - I don't a huge change other than kids can go to nightclubs - mask wearing will be widely used - social distancing went out of the window months ago. What I cannot understand is there are a lot of people up in arms about masks but seem to think its OK that people shouldn't get vaccinated - you can't have it both ways

I think that you are taking a very optimistic view on the loosening of restrictions.
Mass events, sports, gigs etc without social distancing will allow the virus to spread at will, although with 50,000+ new cases each day, "we" have already given up on controlling the spread of the virus.
Interestingly, if our double jabbed Health Minister can still contract the virus then, it's reasonable to suggest that everyone can and then it's just a matter of how serious the cases are.
With overseas travel also opening up, albeit, in an extremely chaotic and unpredictable way, the likelihood of importing a further new strain(s) seems inevitable and again, it's how we and the vaccinations cope with this.
As for government contempt, this has been a recurring theme, although they are not alone in their selfish attitudes.
The pandemic brings out the best in some and the worst in others.
Good to see Kier Starmer at the Challenge Cup Final though, Bojo & Co were noticeably absent when the spotlight isn't so bright.

That’s a big worry, we have 3 neighbours households isolating at the moment. All family members who have the virus have had both vaccinations. I am beginning to think the vaccinations aren’t as efficient as claimed. If that’s the case we are all up the creek without a paddle.

Toxic mess ? Check out the killing Kelly documentary. How Campbell has the audacity to question Tory lies (of which they are many) they pale into insignificance compared with the Iraq war.

| No vaccine ever stops you catching a virus. I don't think we should be opening nightclubs, or stop wearing masks, but I get the impression many are in favour of going back into lockdown, and that this virus will eventually disappear. It seems clear to me that this isn't going anywhere, so there will be a time where we will just have to get (for lack of a better word) get on with it, but at what point is that acceptable? Once furlough ends, the real economic impact will be realised, so I think the reintroduction of restrictions will probably do more long-term damage.

How many people died from Covid last week - 150 - how many people died of heart failure last week 3,000 let's get things into perspective. Vaccines were never ever going to stop you getting the virus but they will stop you having a bad dose in most cases. If we were going to import a new strain we would have by now - it is highly unlikely that a new strain will be a vaccine buster - look at India now?
I still come back to the point of all the outcry about masks but vaccine dodgers get a free pass

| With the daily number of new cases exceeding 50,000 then it is more likely that any new variation will be home produced.
