I was in Holland on the day of Princess Diana Queen of Hearts' funeral, it made the news bulletins but not the hysteria that was apparently seen on the screens in the UK - which is the point that needs to be made really, doesn't matter how grand an affair we treat things as, most foreign news media simply report it as a matter of fact item unless they get a big tasty story to latch onto, soldiers tackling protestors in Westminster would be just that story.

Although Minty, I do however think the funeral plans are OTT and with her being such a decisive figure the whole thing should be toned down.
But I find excessive public grieving/ funerals a bit crass anyway.

And I agree on public displays of grief – nothing weirder than the howls that could be heard along the route of Diana's cortege. |
