It is worth noting that, at present, it is not certain that it was suicide, and it is only speculation that, if it was suicide, it was directly linked to the prank.

I thought when this came out what about the poor nurse who took the call. I suspected it would have ended her career probably, but its turned out a whole lot worse. For the c.unts who exploited her and the 2@s in the media who sensationalised a non story, I wish them unemployment, destitution and a debilitating ilness.

The radio station's FB page is taking a hammering.

These kind of antics seem common place in Australian radio, there is a particularly odious man called Kyle Sandilands who is known for sexist remarks, and also a not very nice segment of putting a lie detector test to a 14 year old girl in front of her mother which didn't end nice!

Anyway this story is horrible

Any civvy, and particularly civil servant, who tries to introduce themselves as their rank equivalent, is a complete and utter turd.

Most of these people probably wouldn't get past the initial filter interview for armed service, let alone get through selection or complete basic training.

Except, perhaps, if they were to apply to be an admin clerk. All 3 services seem to have their share of grossly overweight admin clerks. It seems to be the thing you do when you can't get into any other trade. That, and the military police.

Careful, you'll damage ligaments jerking that hard.

At the moment it has not been confirmed that it was a suicide.

Even if it was, we are not sure the 2 are linked.

The media are lapping this up, which is ironic, because IF the 2 are linked, it is the media which created the very set of circumstances that led to the suicide.

I've never been in a private hospital (hardly ever been in a NHS one) but I'm quite surprised a nurse would take an initial call from random member(s) of the public.
Thought they'd have a nice plush comfy reception, with a receptionist(s) to take calls?

The nurse was also the first thing I thought about as well. Never mind disturbing the privacy of a troubled pregnancy, those giggling idiots placed the nurse in an impossible situation - does she challenge someone when there's the possibility it might be the Queen?? No, of course she bloody doesn't. She's clearly terrified, you can hear the nerves in her voice, and she's made a mistake which hit global headlines and embarrassed the hospital.

She probably spent the last day terrified, confused and overwhelmed, fearful of what it may mean to her employment (though it appears the hospital weren't taking any action), and highly embarrassed.

I like a good prank as much as anyone but this was extremely ill-advised from the start and the consequences have turned tragic, resulting in family losing a wife and mother. A terribly sad chain of events.

That is the nature of pranks. You are making your judgement with the benefit of hindsight.

Most people me included felt at the time it was quite funny and ridiculous.

If we could judge everything with the benefit of hindsight the world would be a much better place.

Funny?.....It was about as funny as the clap - I can't believe that tinpot radio stations still do the 'prank call' routine. Even in the 80's, when this sort of thing was at its peak, it was never particularly amusing, unless your idea of funny is the tedious Jeremy Beadle-style of comedy.

Hopefully, this episode will finish it off, once and for all.
