| Quote: El Barbudo "I see that 38 Degrees are scaring the Corporate sponsors one-by-one.
First McDonalds, then Coca Cola ... changing thier minds and not offshoring the profits to avoid tax from their monopoly sales at the Olympics.
Amazing what a bit of organisation and publicity can do.'"
They wasted their time. One of the conditions of being a host country is that official sponsors don't pay tax on any profits directly derived from the Games. So none of it would have been offshored to avoid tax, as none would have been due.
What has happened here is two multinationals agreeing to pay more tax than they have to, in order to get some positive publicity.

No, what has happened is two multi-nationals have been co-erced into paying tax on UK earnings in a bid to avoid negative publicity.
There's a very real and tangible difference.

| Not sure who the official bog-roll sponsor for the Olympics is, but given that someone had been given the job of covering the Kimberly Clark logos on the loo-roll holders in every cubicle at Hampden with white sticky labels, as well as every soap dispenser and hand dryer it's clearly not them!
Daft thing is the white labels were the thing drawing people's attention to the logos they were trying to cover!

I'd been awake for something like 42 out of the last 48 hours by that point yesterday. I'm not sue I know what I was trying to say either.
'Encouraging' perhaps?

It's utterly bonkers. The Ricoh Stadium in Coventry has had to have the name removed – and any street signs with directions to the stadium have had to be changed too.

| The old Wembley stadium was probably the easiest place to blag your way into the lounges of any sporting venues, certainly easier than Headingley.
All you had to do was wait until the end of the game, climb the stairs at the back of the Royal Box and you'd come to an exit door from the press bar. Knock on the door and you could guaranteee that some boozed-up hack would open it and let you in. Once in there, you had "access all areas" freedom to roam wherever you wanted.

When I was younger I prided myself on being able to talk my way into anywhere.

| I am now actually enjoying the Olympics..... but for all the wrong reasons.
1/ Raising the South Korean flag instead of the North Korean. Absolute incompetence.
2/ The Olympic cable car breaking down over the Thames... Made In Britain
3/ An East African competitor has already applied for asylum... quel surprise, I never saw that 1 coming
Only 24 hours to go folks, thank god it's Steven Seagal season on 5 USA

Quite. The only bad thing about when the Olympics end is that the BBC will forget who Jessica Ennis is, so will stop putting her EVERYWHERE on their channels/websites.

| After the Korean flag debacle, I hope Kazahstan win something and they manage to play Borat's version of the anthem, as actually happened in a medal ceremony in Kuwait
Quote: "Kazakhstan greatest country in the world all other countrys are run by little girls.
Kazakhstan number one exporter of potassium!
Other countries have inferior potassium.
Kazakhstan home of the Tinshein swimming pool it's length thirty metre and width six metre.
Filtration system a marvel to behold it removes 80 percent of human solid waste.'"
