Did you just link to the article or did you read it and the links it included.
The article linked too by Arthur Scargill disputes what your article said.
As for Buthelezi being used to undermine the arguements about Apartheid you should know that the South Africans used Buthelezi and the Zulus like the British used Loyalists in Northern Irealnd. They bought them, off used them to kill their political rivalries and to promote tribal warfare in SA to undermine the ANC

|
| Quote: GraftonRed "Quote: GraftonRed "Good Post by James Webb on another forum...'" lets see how good.
Quote: GraftonRed "My brother went to London, with his girlfriend at the time, in the late 1980s for the Poll Tax protests. Everything was calm until Maggie Thatcher's thug police started causing trouble. The west end of London became a battle zone, as mounted police charged peaceful groups of protesters. My brother feared for his life that day, as Maggie tried to stamp out legitimate protests. She was good at that.'" aah, yes, all the protestors were sitting around making daisy chains no doubt. the obligatory "feared for his life" is up there with "he's now too scared to leave the house" amongst the usual cries to show just how absolutely awful things were, well right up to the point that they forgot about fearing for their lives and started the looting. i'll make guess as to what really happened, and i wasn't even there, 2 groups of people came together on a particular day and at the start it was all pretty jovial, everyone kind of knew the "rules", but, as the day wore on, people got cranky as they got more hungry, thirsty and tired and so, as always happens in these situations the slightest perceived slight becomes a "thing". whether it was a copper who'd heard the same thing shouted in his earhole once to often or it was a protestor who'd been told to sod off once to often, that was the spark. and so, we have the sight of police on horses charging and the police car being attacked. and then we have the blame game which will carry on in perpetuity as one side always claims to be in the right.
Quote: GraftonRed "Go back five years from the Poll Tax protests & Maggie Thatcher had again unleashed her thug police, that time on striking miners. Thatcher was determined to stamp out the unions, making an example of the miners to make other unions cower. It was virtual civil war in all but name. Police were drafted in from all over the country to fight the miners.'"
i suppose my only question is why were the police there at all? you had those choosing not to work sitting around making daisy chains and those choosing to work, working. why exactly were the police there?
Quote: GraftonRed "The rich got richer & the less fortunate were treated with contempt, stamped down into the ground. Millions became unemployed, while yuppies made 'loadsa money', flaunting their wealth vulgarly. People greedily grabbed shares in sold off national assets. Those shares ended up in the hands of the rich eventually, which is what Thatcher had planned all along. It was a big Tory con.'" oh certainly the gap between the rich and poor grew wider, but that's because the rich know how to make more money, because y'know, they're rich. sorry, this is another one of those pesky sites that doesn't tell you how she ruined the world and ate babies. rlhttp://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-the-thatcher-myths/13236rl.
the great british fire sale, tell sid everyone, people did indeed grab the shares, they finally had a piece of this thing that they supposedly already owned but just seemed to keep paying for. and of course there was the unemployment, at the end of her term she had an extra half a million on the "dole", luckily that sort of thing doesn't happen now.
Quote: GraftonRed "People bought their council houses, thinking they would pass them on to their children.'" bless, no, people bought their council houses because they were cheap as chips, and the nation was brimming with capitalist swine who couldn't wait to try and make a fast buck.
Quote: GraftonRed "But this mass, undervalued housing sale robbed future generations of social housing.'" not really, as apparently it's perfectly ok to pass on a council house to a son/daughter as long as certain criteria are met so a house could be kept in a family eternally. we don't need governments to build houses, we need them to set rent controls. builders will build the houses.
Quote: GraftonRed "Council house buyers didn't realise this was another dirty Thatcher trick, because in later life those house owners would be forced to sell their homes to pay care home bills. Disgusting Tory exploitation.'" a trick? according to this so, people knew about it.
Quote: GraftonRed "Thatcher deliberately covered up police failings following the deaths of 96 at Hillsborough in 1989. Thatcher was hardly going to betray her faithful attack dogs. So the 96 were smeared & their families were mocked by the establishment for decades as they fought bravely to uncover the truth.'" sorry, but this is bollox of the highest order. recent events show it. and the fact that in 13 years of a labour government, who would have loved it to be true, didn't make these findings. the fault lies squarely at the feet of the police.
Quote: GraftonRed "For those of us who lived through all this & more during Thatcher's despairing period as PM, who were forced to sign on because we were unable to find work for years as thousands of businesses folded & industry collapsed, there remained only bitter hatred for Maggie Thatcher.'" '" industry never collapsed.
so, not really a "good" piece then.

4486_1428087820.png Newsnight 13th May 2010: "With the role of Deputy Prime Minister a non-job. Has Nick Clegg gone from King Maker to tea maker????"
I kept the faith and I kept voting
Not for the iron fist but for the helping hand
For theirs is a land with a wall around it
And mine is a faith in my fellow man
Theirs is a land of hope and glory
Mine is the green field and the factory floor
Theirs are the skies all dark with bombers
And mine is the peace we knew

So they are going to ignore months of intelligence reports, neglectfully allow the funeral to be captured by an invasion force from a 3rd world military dictatorship, then waste the lives of British troops in a massively expensive war to recapture the funeral- and lumber us with a lovely on-going bill for the next 30 odd years to protect the funeral from further invasion that should never have happened in the first place.
Can't wait.
In true Thatcher style the police should set up road blocks on the M1 to arrest any possible protesters travelling down for the day and the navy should sink a couple of ferries heading towards France.
