| How is an wanting a replacement ipod relevant to an ipad? Or do you simply have money to burn and there's no suitable mp3 player available yet so you may as well buy an ipad?
In any case, I would recommend not buying an ipad at all, unless you have some particular desire to use a mobile internet device that is locked down, expensive, requires you to only use one hand and has a touch screen keyboard.
If you just want a mobile internet device, get a laptop.
As for the ipod, I'd suggest simply buying a different brand, more memory, less cost, better product.

I'd like a new iPod touch as mines quite old and slow and I wouldn't mind more memory. I use it for a lot more than music so I wouldn't want an mp3 player. I've already got a laptop but I was just looking into the idea of an iPad. The reason I'd get an iPad is if there was no new iPod touch coming out anytime soon. Have you had a bad experience with apple products or do you just hate them on principle?

Serious question because I'm curious - if you already have a laptop, why do you want an iPad and do you see them as different devices with different purposes, would you still use both of them and would they be under different circumstances ?
Just going back a few pages, still watching netbook prices but the Jan sales haven't seen any price drops since the pre-xmas rates

| To be fair I've always thought ipads were a bit pointless. It's completely unnecessary and very expensive, but it would still be nice to have. After a bit more research I might wait till the kindle fire comes out in the uk as it seems to be much better value and it's done very well in America.
My laptop is mainly used for work and research more than anything else. I do use it for a few other things but I don't go on it too much these days. An iPad would be a sort of round the house replacement for my touch. I do a lot of Internet browsing on my touch and a play games a bit. For me the iPad would be used a lot, so it wouldn't be really be a waste of money. But the £400 price tag really puts me off.

| I've never really been interested in having an ipad, For what you get they are very dear in comparison to a laptop and are far to limited in what you can do with them. If they where cheaper then they could be seen as a great alternative to a laptop to just use for web browsing etc, but effectively , your paying more to do less.....

| I've always been sceptical of tablets, but have had a play on a relatives Android tablet over Christmas and it's excellent. The internet is great on it, probably a nicer experience than using a laptop because of the touch scrolling and pinch zooming. It also seems to render the pages in a more visually impressive way, even basic websites just look really nice. Probably to do with the quality of the screen I guess.

| Wait for the Google tablet if you can, just as the android phones (particularly the Galaxy s2) are smashing the iphone sales now, it will be the same death knell for the ipad. Saying that, the new generation ipod touch with its 2 cameras is great.

| How do I stop/delete a download on my iphone that won't finish.. I bought Kingdom of Heaven as a rental through itunes on my phone, which was s valid for 30 days. However, i went over the 30 days before completing the download. Now, it will continue to download but when it's apparently completed it just restarts downloading again.

Google tablet? I thought at first you might be referring to a tablet made by Google (which may exist, though I haven't seen one) but then you reference the SAMSUNG Galaxy S2 in relation to iphones, so now I assume you mean a tablet with Android on it; in which case they are already readily available (as are tablets with Windows on...) for mostly less than the price of an ipad.
To answer the other question, no, I don't particularly like apple products I find them expensive (and poor value) and little more than the latest fashion item; however I accept some people do want them; I was merely trying to work out if an ipad was your best choice or if an alternative may suit your needs better.
I still think an alternative would be better. You say you want to listen to music and browse the internet (and use apps presumably), sounds like you'd be better off with a smart phone (either apples iphone or the aforementioned Galaxy S2 with Android) would suffice. Both have large storage capacity, some models it can even be increased with a flash card (usually a micro sd, a 16Gb can be had for under £10).
If you're still thinking of an ipad because you want a larger screen and hence less portability than a phone, why not look at a laptop instead? It has everything the ipad has and more as well as being cheaper and better value.
Failing that, if you still think you must have a tablet, and that no physical keyboard would suit your needs best at least look at other tablets before choosing an ipad, you'll find that they can do more and aren't hindered pointlessly (like the lack of usb ports on an ipad), probably cheaper and offer better value.

| Maplins currently have three sub £180 tablets in their sale, not much memory and little storage (but can be expanded) and 7 or 8 inch screens but perfectly suitable for browsing & streaming.

| I recently got an Asus eepad transformer (So far it resolutely refuses to turn into a robot capable of World domination) it clips onto a proper keyboard for the times you want to type a bit of a longer post, but the on screen keyboard for when it's off the other keyboard (good review this) is fairly usable as well.
At four hundred sheets it's not particularly cheap. 16Gb with an sd slot. So far it's a pleasure to use it's browses fast and Androids market is vastly improved form eighteen months ago when I first got a smart phone.
I'd take all this with a massive pinch of salt though as I'm hopeless at this sort of thing.
