I have no issue with Christains, true Christians that would truly live and let live, what I have a problem with are sanctamonious fundamentalists that enforce their doctrine on everyone else, people like kirkstaller, who believe they are somehow better than me, because they believe the ultimate fairy story, but not in a mans right to be a "fairy".

There is no religion that is a satisfactory substitute for a conscience.

I worked with a woman who was a devout catholic and also had an MA, I once commented that I couldn't believe that someone with her level of intelligence and education believed in God, to which she replied that she couldn't understand that intelligent people 'didn't' believe in God. Is it brainwashing, or just a genuine held belief.

But if I said I genuinely believed that my Cat was a deity and responsible for spawning all human life, would that be held as a valid belief?

Except that isn't a description of a 'true' Christian or indeed a description of a 'true' anyone with any modicum of belief in anything whatsoever. Nobody can truly 'live and let live'. We all draw lines in the sand.
