Ooh I've watched it now.

You see for me, thats what TV should always be about, real life stories which are always far more dramatic in the telling then the shoite that gets served up as "serial drama".

The bloke in question already had a cushy job at the start of the war, didn't need to get involved at all, but volunteered for service in the RAF as a tail gunner in a Halifax bomber - only the most dangerous job in the whole air force with a life expectancy of a couple of weeks, any fighter attacking a slow moving four engine bomber would hit it from behind while the tail gunner sat there and waited for the shells to hit him.

Unsurprisingly he was killed in action as were the rest of his crew, and only then did his letter reveal to his wife that he wasn't working in a desk job at the RAF but had deliberately volunteered as a gunner "because it was the right thing to do" and then he apologised to her for not telling her the truth.

Eastenders can't hold a candle to that sort of storyline.

An excellent appraisal, put into words far better than I could hope to conjure.

Just had Sky+ HD installed in the bedroom. Apparently if you already have multi room HD is now a free service for your extra box, providing you have the HD package on your main TV.

Them bull musk ox were lethal weapons on the Beebs [iFrozen Planet[/i last night.



That and the fantastic helicopter shots of the thousands of albino Beluga's heading for that quiet secluded estuary.

I hear the other parents talking about it in the playground at school and it makes me want to give them a bloody good shake.

Haven't watched last nights yet but the huge wide scenic shots in the previous episodes have been simply stunning. They've really managed to get across the vast bleakness but also the beauty of the continents.

There must be some form of correlation between the fooked up state of the country and the fooked up shoite that people get fed on their TV screens?

If they're mostly watching "I'm a Celebrity", there's no wonder your kids' school felt it necessary to provide a parents' playground

The BBC's natural history output is worth the licence fee on its own. Most of what they do is absolutely stunning, and Frozen Planet is no exception.

The sad thing is, they don't get fed it, they choose to watch it. If no one tuned in to garbage like that, they'd have to pull it.

No one would ever doubt that. Apart from some of the idiots at the BBC, no doubt under pressure from The Secretary of State for Culture Media & Sport, who were seriously considering slashing - not trimming or even cutting - the budget for the Natural History Unit. Attenborough's output alone over the last half-century, should be enough to tell the beancounters to keep their nose away.
