Indeed and despite the massive loss in terms of civilian casualties, it would be a far better outcome if Ukraine could resist for long enough to make the Russians withdraw.
Mind you, I dont have Putin down as a leader that would want to walk away with a bloody nose.
Perhaps he thought that the Ukrainian's would roll over easily but, this doesn't seem to be happening.
