| Quote Dally="Dally"I was interested to read today that the British people's wealth is now its highest ever. Perhaps one of the better legacies of Mrs Thatcher?'"
"British people's wealth" is an empty and misleading expression.
It could mean that everyone is better off or it could mean that nearly everyone is starving but a tiny minority of unbelievably wealthy.
The fact is that, under Thatcher (of whom we are speaking), the poor got poorer for the first time in over a century.
"One of the better legacies"?
Leave it out.

Susannah Roedean?
As thick as porcine manure and can barely string together a coherent sentence.
The only reason I can think of for her being a presenter is that someone is holding out hopes of getting into her knickers.

| Quote cod'ead="cod'ead"How am I brainwashed?
I was born during Winston Churchill's 3rd term as Prime Minister. Churchill and the tory administrations of Eden, MacMillan and Douglas-Home continued to build upon the work started by Clement Atlee to renew infrastructure, the biggest house building programme this country had ever seen, the development of the welfare state and the NHS.
By the time Thatcher came to power, I was married and paying a mortgage, even with interest rates that were upward of 15%. I spent my time on the cobbles while on picket duty. I saw the sell-off of nationally owned assets, sometimes sold off back to those who already owned them. I saw swingeing increases in VAT while North Sea oil revenues paid for tax cuts for the rich. I saw the numbers on benefits increase from 2 miilions to 6 millions, again all paid for through North Sea oil & gas revenues and seen as "a price worth paying". I've seen grown men reduced to tears because they couldn't provide for their families. I saw the gap between rich and poor widen dramatically. I saw schoold fall into disrepair while their sports fields were sold off. I saw patients lined in corridors because there wasn't sufficient space in wards to treat them properly.
Don't even begin to tell ME that I'm brainwashed sunshine'"
Ok. Point taken.

| Quote bullinenemyland="bullinenemyland"Think its an absolute disgrace that Mods not only allow this thread to continue, but actually take glee in someones death. But then again its not as if any of you actually have the balls or ability to do anything as huge as lead a country is it?
Lets hope you all get more sympathy in your demise!!!'"
I'm not aware that any of the mods here are attempting to foist their beliefs on to others – and, indeed, actually managing to do so to the extent that they are directly impacting on the lives of others at a practical, day-to-day level.
I am not aware that any of the mods here have, for instance, made decisions that unemployment is a price worth paying (although not by themselves, obviously) and are sitting back watching while others lose their jobs and their homes.
Please feel free to correct this if it is incorrect, but when a person enters politics, and particularly when that person aims for the very top job, and then inflicts on an entire country policies that have huge ramifications for many, many people and communities, and becomes, in so doing, the most divisive figure in that country's politics for a century plus, then I suspect that a lack of sympathy from those who feel that they personally were impacted negatively or those they knew were so impacted, can hardly be revelatory to any thinking individual.

| Quote Hull White Star="Hull White Star"I went on my first protest march against the poll tax in 1990 and have only done it once since and that was 2 weeks ago against the bedroom tax.'"
good for you marching, how very political.
just a couple of things.
Quote Hull White Star="Hull White Star"When (and I'm saying when, not if) my car is taken off me I will be virtually housebound as I can't use public transport nor will I be able to afford taxis without my DLA.'"
so not really housebound then, you'll be sure to let the relevant departments know that you are able to go marching.

| Not having sympathy and actively celebrating the death of a human being are quite different I would have thought the title of the thread would have been changed.
