Have there been allegations of more serious child abuse aimed at Smith or is that it? If that's it, then IMO the cops at the time might have just been of the mind to kill all investigation rather than let him be brought down over something they considered bogus. If there are more serious allegations this obviously changes things, but I haven't seen anything. But I haven't been looking either.
The MP who is making a huge deal about Smith. I think he's from Rochdale, got a Slavic(?) name. While his campaigning might be completely honest and above board and he could genuinely be someone who is trying to right a wrong, there's also the possibility that he's simply using this to make a name for himself in politics. That suspicion is also arisen in me in that guy who had the famous disappearing dossier. The new campaigning MP always strikes me as being just that little bit odd and his Mrs is even more so. I know she recently came out with her own abuse tale and she's been to the police about it because her mother says she's lying. But the weird thing about her complaint is that the dates that she alleges the abuse are when she was aged 6-11 and the boy was 11-16. While it was certainly *something* if it did happen, it's not a clear case of child abuse and I don't even know how the legal system could even handle it.'"
Smith was never employed as a teacher. He gained access to kids by being a councillor and later the Mayor of Rochdale, subsequently becoming a school governor and a patron of local organisations for young people. He took his role as a governor so seriously that he dished out corporal punishment in children's homes round Rochdale and got no enjoyment from it whatsoever. Honest!.

I am at a total loss as to how Alison Saunders came to the view that to further investigate the accusations against Greville Janner would not be "in the public interest". What about the interest of his alleged vicitms?
Supposedly too ill to face further police questioning, he was well enough to attend the HoL before these latest allegations surfaced

If I read it correctly it's not that, it's that CPS seem to have decided that he isn't compos mentis enough to be interviewed. Not that they interview people, but hey. I fully accept that despite this, he may well be up to the standard for the HOL, where the requirement is seemingly to have a pulse. I'm not sure if it's mandatory.

Remember Ernest Saunders?
Released early from his prison sentence because he was suffering from Altzheimers. A few months later he made a full recovery (must be the only one).
I always thought it was up to the judiciary to decide whether anyone was fit to stand trial, not the DPP. Mind you, Alison Saunders does appear to have previous in such matters, take a look at her "forgetting" to hand over important documents to the defence in the rlBarry George trial for Jill Dando's murderrl
I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories but there have been numerous rumours that Dando was also investigating child abuse by VIPs and that investigation led to her being silenced with extreme prejudice | | |

Frank Beck, who was convicted in the case where he named Jenner was not a lucky guy. A couple of years after sentence he conveniently dropped dead after game of badminton. The fact that his appeal against conviction was coming up is, I am sure, totally unrelated. | | |
