"Disposal
Most cigarette filters are made from cellulose acetate. Depending on conditions, estimates for the time taken for them to degrade range from British American Tobacco's 1 month – 3 years,[3] to 10–15 years.
This resistance to biodegrading is a factor in littering, environmental damage and suggested lung damage. In the 2006 International Coastal Cleanup, the number of individual cigarettes and cigarette butts collected amounted to 24.7% of the total number of garbage items collected, over twice as many items as any other category."

More fool you for doing it then if you know that.
Like people who get caught speeding by cameras and then say "they're only money making schemes". Here's another money making scheme:
Don't speed/smoke/litter and the money stays in your pocket.

Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.

So you've never ever broken the speed limit? Even by a few mph?

Never said that and I'm not sure how you got to that from what I typed.
Never gone through a speed camera above the speed limit and then moaned about how it's some else's fault than my own, either.

Thing with speed cameras they're very well known and a few years ago were made to look highly visible to the motorist, its a bit different than some sneaky plain clothed jobsworth leaping out of the shadowing demanding your details and hitting you with a £75 fine for dropping a cig butt.

I agree on visibility, but if you hadn't dropped it in the first place, he wouldn't have needed to leap out.
Why not stub it out on a wall and put in the bin?

| There weren't any walls or bins around.
You say you don't speed when you drive through speed cameras because you know the outcome?
What if tonight as you pull up on your drive a big thuggish jobsworth wearing no inform comes up to the side of your vehicle and demands to know your name, address and date of birth as you broke the speed limit?

You were busted dropping some litter. Actually, you weren't busted because the guy gave himself up that he didn't have any evidence of you littering. But you tried to be a clever tvvat and mocked him, and busted yourself with it.
So you call your CID friend trying to get out of it. He can't get you out of it.
You think that the cops are going to come to your rescue, because he's a fake, right??? The cops give you short shrift. They're on his side. You're busted.
So you come on here whining about it, trying to see if there's some way out of it. You get no sympathy, you whine about it.
Just a guess here, but I'm thinking you're a scouser, right?

I'd ask to see his ID, make a note of his name, ask him to prove it and not act the smart.

| Just to poke the fire a bit:
You said you were 'working' and from the line that suggests it's company policy that you can't smoke in your vehicle, I'll assume that you're an employee rather than self-employed.
Hence, what does your employer make of this, in particular the part where you "made sure you took up as much time of his as possible" at at time when you were suppose to be 'working' (notwithstanding that it may be reasonable for you to take a short refreshment break between jobs)?

In Scarborough last year, I parked in a disabled bay, displayed my blue badge, the correct way, with the time (which we didn't have to but always do) and off we went. On return I had a parking ticket and couldn't work out why. Everything was correct with the badge, I was parked in a designated disabled bay but still had a ticket. Anyhoo it turned out I hadn't paid, which is something we always check on the boards as different councils around the country have different rules, but for some reason, we didn't this time.
Did I a) shout and scream and complain that how dare he give me a parking ticket as my blue badge was displayed correctly and all above board? did I b) pay the fine and vow never to just walk away again but always check if I have to pay? or did I c) Moan, complain and whinge on Sin Bin then when told I was in the wrong and shouldn't have done it, start calling everyone holier than thou?? Hmmmmmm difficult one this.

Didn't ring mate to get me out of it, just rang for advice on the issue.
I'm not trying to get out of it I hold my hands up, peeved with the way it was done.

| I broke the speed limit and I got the opportunity to pay to attend a speed awareness course instead of points and a fine.
Most people on the course were were a bit contrite, they knew they'd done wrong.
But one guy, whose job was delivery driving, kept returning to his favourite moan about how the camera wasn't fair and how you could always argue your case with a copper, for example if you were rushing your wife to the maternity hospital.
When asked if he was rushing his wife to the hospital, he replied that he hadn't.
But he had broken the limit? Yes.
And did he have a valid mitigating reason? No.
Did he stop moaning all day? No.
This thread reminds me of that time.
p.s. I learned quite a bit from that course but I doubt the delivery driver did.

No one has said you should be stoned to death, you were caught littering, something that lots of people hate, pay your fine and shut up, man up FFS.
