Quote: BobbyD "Labour voter by perchance!'"

Just read the comments from the article that JC posted this morning from the DM. It seems that some staunch Tories are even sickened by this man and what he is doing. When you have commentators from the Mail bemoaning IDS and his ideology, tells me everything I need to know.

Quote: JerryChicken "One memorable quote from that article...

Each week for eight months, 32 people died who had been removed from the benefits system.

Given that even my old mate who died in a hospice at the age of 52 from an inoperable brain tumour could still press the morphine button as long as someone had placed it in his hand that morning, then that one criteria would class him as being fit to work according to the ATOS spokesperson who in turn insists that they are just following government instructions.

That makes me sick.'"

A colleague worked up to the day before she died of cancer. So, did these 32 people per week die because they were declared fit for work or simply because of their illness? Is it impossible for people to work with an illness?

Your ignorance is truly shocking and typical of Tory thinking. I just hope one day you don't become terminally ill or have a disability, as I wouldn't wish my illness on my enemies. And if you did, I trust you wouldn't claim any benefits whatsoever and work until the minute you die, no matter what your level of illness or pain. Walk a mile in someone elses shoes before you make a judgement on them.

Quote: Hull White Star "And by the way, if you read the article correctly it says that back then Atos were the decision makers and were (as is now) on a commission for everyone they get off the benefit. The decision is now down to the DWP (IDS's own department), Atos just provide the necessary "Health Care Professionals" to do the assessments.'"

Look, it's fine, you don't need to defend your clearly hypocritical stance.

Yet I'm not the one voting for these measures that are apparently killing people. Go and have a look in the mirror. You've got your money or in other words, "I'm alright, Jack".

See my above post.

I fail to see how I can be hypocritical when I know it was Labour who brought in Atos for trialling and I also know (from experience, not just made up lies) that this government changed the criteria and descriptors for ESA?

Wow, you really are something else!! Its because I'm alright Jack that I still belong to and use the disability/benefit groups online. Its because I'm alright Jack that I went on a protest against the bedroom tax even though it doesn't affect me. Its because I'm alright Jack that I sign and promote petitions regarding the treatment of ESA/PIP applicants.

Yeah, I'm alright Jack.

If you consider it to be 'bad' under this Government then you won't be voting for Labour at the next election as have said they will be tougher than the Tories on benefits.

Remember a vote for Labour will mean it is worse than it is now.

And come 2015 you'll vote for a party that promises to be nastier than the Tories on those less fortunate despite telling us how nasty they are.

I find it hilarious you actually know who I'll be voting for, you must be clairvoyant, please tell us this weeks lottery numbers so I don't have to jump through hoops to claim 90 odd quid a week.

Jump through hoops? You have to prove your case, sorry if that inconveniences you. Perhaps people should just be allowed to say they've a bad back or something and then get the cash, no questions asked. Sorry, you clearly can't be a Labour voter, your bleatings about the unfairness of it all would make you unable to vote for them as they've promised to be even nastier. My mistake.

Quote: Hull White Star "I don't have to whine, I have my benefit thank you very muchly and an acknowledgement from this government that I am what I say I am. How many flights of stairs did you put down on your ESA50 pre 2008 and did you say you could or could not step up two steps on the same question post 2010? How much pain did you say you were in on your ESA50 pre 2008 in the half a page box asking you to explain and which box did you tick to say if you could hold a pen in your ESA50 post 2010.

Labour was trialling Atos, this government went full steam ahead, changed the questions, disregards specialist opinion and calls people liars.

{why do I have a sense of deja vu here??}'"

I've got the ESA 50 in front of me. On the steps thing, you don't only have to say if you can or can't step up 2 steps, there's a "it varies" option as well, plus a lovely little box to fill in any additional info about using steps. I'm sure you can explain your issues with the form that asks you for answers but gives you the space to add on any other information.

All I can do is laugh at you icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

You really have no idea at all. I know you haven't been around here for long (or have you?) but I shouldn't have to prove to them or you that I have had hip replacements, knee replacements, foot fusions, joint damage, etc etc, a letter from the top professor in the country (at Chapel Allerton in Leeds), my GP, physio, occupational health, podiatrists and radiographers, should be enough.

Come back to me when you know what you are talking about, that goes for the ESA50 form you "have in front of you". I see you don't mention about picking up an empty cardboard box, nor lifting one arm to put something in your top pocket questions.

I suspect you are a troll and a very bad one at that.
