Obviously Fletcher is another Tory MP who is thick as mince and got elected in a seat where they didn't expect to win so just put up the first person who applied. But putting that to one side his argument, such as it is, is purest culture war - find an issue that sounds like a desperate cultural problem which will really rile up the right wing nationalist/grievance-obsessed base and find a reason for British demise that absolves the government of any responsibility.
"Look at this!" they say, "this destruction of our traditions! This is why we have a crime problem. This is why you, our base, feel everything is wrong with our country".
"It's nothing to do with our policies of slashing police budgets and destroying council programmes which dealt with social issues. It's because these 'lefties' are allowing women on the TV. Which didn't happen in our day, did it. And we turned out all right".

That could also be applicable to most of the labour members as well nod, btw it's only obvious to those it's obvious to if that helps.

Do any of your posts not try to change the subject or distract from the point?

Only in your eyes nod, not for the first time your selectively having a pop at a Tory MP, I'm sure your right but I'm simply redressing the balance by pointing out the frailties of the labour MPs as well, also what is clearly obvious to you might not be obvious to everybody else, hope your not that blinkered like your 2 mates wink & blink to understand that.

A Tory MP saying something monumentally moronic isn't being selectively chosen in any way other than by themselves.

I quite agree, but in the interest of fairness don't you agree that you ought to be less selective about the Tory element and share the criticism among all parties, or are you that one eyed like the 3 bowery boys on here from the Wakey board.

Happy to look at and discuss the numbers for all second jobs if you can provide them. I just went with what I found first that seemed interesting/relevant to me.
If we are looking at second jobs more broadly, I think we do have to acknowledge a world of difference between somebody like Dr Phillipa Whitford MP of the SNP helping patients with breast cancer during parliamentary recess and what are effectively paid lobbying roles.

I don't vote Conservative or Labour so don't view any of these conversations from any sort of tribal prism. It really is a stretch to cling to the mindset that "They are all as bad as each other" so criticism needs to be dished out to all in equal measure. There's one side of the political divide that's really letting itself and the country down. The other side is a little bit feeble and insipid but there's no comparison.

| The Lib Dem’s are proof why it’s better to keep your independence and definitely stay clear of the Conservatives.

They trace back to the 1850s.
