| Quote: bren2k "There is interesting bonfire of the centrists going on at the moment - in both parties; the Tories and Labour are moving to more extreme positions, one to the right and one to the left, and it seems a lot of MP's who would label themselves as moderate, are jumping ship as a result. The Tories had their big clear-out, and others have dribbled away since, and it seems likely that more Labour MP's could follow, as they saw Tom Watson as the last bulwark against Corbynism.
My fear is that many of them could wait until after the election to do so - to keep their place on the gravy train; not caring of course that they effectively steal the time and effort of activists and campaigners, and the democratic vote of their constituents. But since the precedent set for that by the Funny Tinge crew, it seems that some career MP's have no shame in that respect. For my money, crossing the floor should trigger an automatic by-election.
I don't count John Mann or Ian Austin by the way - a pair of more odious twerps you are never likely to find; they will be a stain on any party they care to join.'"
All good points well made

You seem upset that the opposition opposed the deal patched together by the Tories but, quite accepting of those Tories who also opposed Jonnson's (and Mays) deal.
In fact, Johnson who wants everyone to endorse his version of Brexit, was himself happy to be a "traitor" when it suited him.
The big question is whether those voting against his deal were scuppering that deal or deliberately trying to scupper Brexit.
What would be interesting (if it becomes possible) would be to see just how may Tories support a Labour version of Brexit - fancy having a guess and then we can remind you later.

Ironically, it would have passed if the ERG hard Brexit fundamentalists had voted for it; funny old world isn't it?

Are you saying that Boris, Rees Mogg et al are remainers ?
I know that Johnson used to be, until he saw his opportunity for the top job and jumped on the Leave ship but the rest (who didn't support May), seemed more of the hard line "no deal" brigade and yes, some remainers.

| It's such a shame Kier Starmer is trapped in this ludicrous Labour party. I genuinely like the guy. He just needs to replace Corbyn and McDonnell, cleanse Labour of the Momentum Stasi, gets rid of stoopid policies of desperation like menopause regulations & 12 months maternity leave, and finally stop looking like he's about to cry and I might even consider voting for him.
"We will negotiate a better deal with the EU"...despite the EU knowing Labour will toss that 'new' deal into a 2nd referendum. The British people have just watched as the EU only finally moved when Boris repeatedly threatened to leave with or without a deal - yet Labour think they can negotiate a better deal with absolutely ZERO negotiating power. Yes I know things didn't work out that way for BJ - but hindsight is a wonderful debating tool.
Asked why would remainers vote for you over the Lib Dems, "because the idea the LDs will win enough seats is ludicrous and they can vote remain in our referendum."
Asked why would leavers vote for you, "because they can vote against our newly negotiated deal in our referendum."
I also like him because you can read him like a book and he clearly know he's talking utter bollox. Bless.

That is not the same is it - Abbott was comparing the coverage of Austin's comments about Corbyn - I haven't heard Clarke saying Boris is unfit to be PM - maybe I missed that?

You didn't understand the context of the post - Labour will simply offer two versions of remain - if Labour get in who is seriously going to campaign for Leave - we might as well not have a vote?
Their Brexit policy is a complete mess - they might as well say they are a remain party its obvious to everyone it does them no favours to suggest otherwise - its disingenuous. When asked not one senior Labour politician can suggest any eventuality whereby any deal they negotiate would be better than remain.

and can business owners decide to sack them on the spot for refusing to work when needed?, a job is a privilege, not a right.
So Labour want an employer to offer 37.5 hour a week contracts, pension, holiday, maternity, menopause counselling, but the employee can pick and choose when they work?
and people are considering voting for these lunatics.
I thought Lord Such was buried 10 years ago?

Throughout the whole 3 term parliaments of the last Labour government the UK had the top possible credit rating of AAA
Under the conservatives this was downgraded in 2013, and then downgraded again in 2017. This is now in danger of been downgraded a third time under our current government.
Sal can you explain how the conservatives are “ profligate with the monies“ compared to Labour?

The gist of the article you quoted is that we need to keep the austerity policy and sort brexit. Is that what you want?

This is really interesting as NOBODY is actually saying that we will be better off if we leave. Yes, The European court MAY not be able to over rule our laws but, better off on the outside of the EU you are funny.
Everything that we now hear is thet leaving will be worth taking "a hit" and with the economic gloom gathering over the planet, we are volunteering another recession - interesting take on better off
And the craziest thin of all are the spending pledges on both sides, which in a time of probable recession will only make matters worse.
