| Quote: bren2k "It doesn't seem that odd to me - the new Labour leader is an establishment friendly figure, so attacks on the incumbent Government can resume with some degree of safety; they rallied to see off Corbyn because he represented an existential threat to the status quo - but with Keir Starmer in position, they can tolerate some leftist popularity, safe in the knowledge that if he were to gain power, nothing would change in their rarefied world. See Tony Blair for historical equivalence - the first Labour leader the Murdoch press got behind, because he was basically one of them, with a veneer of socialism to fool the plebs. Either that, or Murdoch has decided that his loyal lapdog Michael Gove deserves his day in the sun.'"
Does Gove's wife work for a Murdoch paper?

Currently works for the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail will be able to influence and switch their readership from Johnson to Gove as easy as turning on a tap.

I wonder what they'll do if/when Gove gets thrust forward by the rest?

| Has Boris been furloughed too? The work experience lad seemed to be giving the daily update yesterday.

| In my view, anyone who "claps for carers" or gets all dewy-eyed when they talk about "our" NHS - but who also voted Tory - is a hypocrite of the highest order; it's important to remember I feel, that this is the same Tory party which has systematically and deliberately underfunded the NHS for 10 years - and broke out in cheers when they successfully blocked the lifting of the cap on nurses pay.
I expect most carers would rather you stayed indoors and gave that some thought, than stand on your doorstep banging on a saucepan in a demented attempt to assuage your guilty conscience.

Agreed, I actually turned the tv down last Thursday to see if the nutters were actually all out giving it big licks.

The NHS is but one factor in the whole mixed economy - those that voted Tory voted for what was included in their manifesto which did include higher spending on the NHS - so far the Tories couldn't have done much more in that respect in this parliament - what has happened in the past is irrelevant tbh.

Absolute nonsense.
You are very quick to forgive any faults with Bojo and his cronies - i'm most definitely not.
We'll see his true colours when the dust starts to settle and the inevitable squeeze hit's all public finances.
We'll all no doubt be "in it together", with MP's still taking their index linked pay rises, while the rest of the public servants are once again squeezed and forgotten.
The double standards form your beloved party make me bloody sick and hypocrite is the perfect word to describe the Tories new found love for the NHS and it's staff.
