| right, i've ed up and dropped my phone(nokia 5800) in water, it appears to be working 99.9999%, the only problem i have is that i can't connect it to my pc/pc suite to remove my texts and back up contacts.
i can connect for image transfer and mass storage with the usb cable, but when i choose pc suite, its makes a dud duh noise and disconnects, it knows it there, just wont recognise it.
i'm with 02 and i've just been told blue book isn't available anymore but there may be some software/sites on teh net that i can use for backing texts up like this.
Any suggestions anyone?
thanks

Connect via Bluetooth, if your PC/Laptop doesn't have an adaptor you can pick one up in Poundworld.

I'd kill everything that's not important, which on most system's is everything except for any AV product you've installed.

Ok thank you. I got rid of a few and managed to open the defrag but then it crashed about 10 mins into it. I'll give it another go tonight

| I wouldn't worry about defragging, if it's crashing randomly (not just at start up) your HDD is probably fried by the sounds of it.

Indeed, if it crashed during a defrag then it is 99% certain the drive is on its way out.

| Chrome updated itself on my MacBook a few days ago, and ever since I have been having crashing issues on the RLFANS 'Post Reply' page.
Any ideas why?

| How do you mean crashing issues? Page won't load or Chrome becomes unresponsive and you have to close? Does it happen on any other sites or forums?

| When I click in the reply box and press return to give myself a line of space, the cursor line disappears. Then when I click back into the box the page becomes unresponsive and crashes.

Chrome and Lion to a lesser extent are buggy as hell.

| Grr. I'll just sit tight and wait for the next updates then.
Cheers.
Plus, you don't happen to know how to get my MacBook to start displaying what stickykeys are currently pressed down again do you? It stopped since I got Lion.
System Prefences says they are showing, but they aren't.

| How long are wireless routers supposed to last, or is that a daft question?
Bought one last year to replace another that died after about 4 years, and this one (Netgear) is now getting very temperamental and drops the signal all the time. It's difficult to reconnect (phone and PC takes ages and is not always successful).
I've tried the IT helpdesk solution of rebooting it but it only works for a few hours then gives up again
Should I just bin it and get a new one?

How old is the Netgear one you have, if it's less than a year then try and get it swapped, I'be no real idea how long suh things should last but I would say at least two years, it's not as if it has moving parts etc.
