Quote: DHM "A fictional character in a political satire said it best"You know, I've spent ten years detoxifying this party. It's been a bit like renovating an old, old house, yeah? You can take out a sexist beam here, a callous window there, replace the odd homophobic roof tile. But after a while you realise that this renovation is doomed. Because the foundations are built on what I can only describe as a solid bed of c***s."[/i'"

Well, the Green Party's Party Election broadcast was definitively the most memorable I think I've ever seen icon_biggrin.gif

In the interest of balance I need to add that the Lab puppy ripped up a LibDem leaflet this morning, so thats 2xLabour and 1xLibdem, we've had no other election literature so far so I'm unable to work out where his allegiances lay.

Cameron Stumped by Question from a 10 Yr Old :

David Cameron has rarely come unstuck on the campaign trail so far, batting away questions with his usual smooth, predictable and dull responses.

And when he faced an audience of schoolchildren in Bolton for BBC's Newsround show, he must have been predicting an easy ride.

But he ended up being asked the toughest question of the election campaign so far, as he admitted himself.

“If you could pick one politician apart from yourself to win who would it be and why?” asked Reema, a ten-year-old girl from Salford, Greater Manchester.

The Prime Minister was stumped and - like too many times during this campaign - failed to come up with an answer, saying:

“Wow. If I could pick politician? Would they have to be living or dead?

“If I thought someone else should win the election I would not be standing myself, so I can’t really answer the question about who else I would like to win.

“There are lots of candidates around the country I am very enthusiastic about.

“I am afraid it is too difficult to say I would like someone else to win other than me or I wouldn’t be here, and I am quite keen on winning."

__________________________

Wow, couldn't come up with a decent response, so says mothing at all really. In my opinion he would have gained more from saying "I've really enjoyed working with Nick to demonstrate how effective a coallition can be, and would welcome to chance to work with another party leader, in government, again if the need arises."

Any views on tonight's debacle - sorry, debate?

Terrible. The interrupting Welsh housewife, the angry loony Aussie and the arrogant Scot all aggressively associating themselves with Ed Miliband, in the knowledge that they'll all be begging from his plate should he end up in the driving seat.

Not Farage's best night, never a good idea to insult your audience. But again at least he speaks plainly, rather than the usual headline platitudes that mean absolutely nothing. The Greens also speak plainly, but they're so far removed from reality it's comical and Bennett's shouting was embarrassing. Miliband knew he was the senior politician, clearly visible in his body language.

Will Labour stand by their promise not to align with the SNP in a hung Parliament? That would sway me a little but I'm still not sure I trust them.

Still undecided. But definitely not the Greens or Lib Dems.

Although I didn't bother watching the debate, I did follow it on twitter.

What I found particularly annoying was although the tories and limpdems chose not to participate, they were invited to comment in the spin-room. Cameron is being kept well away from the possibility of any questioning by anyone apart from the party faithful.

rlGiven this reactionrl, there's little wonder he's being sheltered

I think Labour are taking the gamble that they dont need the SNP. That when push comes to shove on the major votes the SNP will abstain rather than bring down a Labour government and put the Tories back in.

The tories have conveniently forgotten that they propped up a minority SNP government in Scotland

The SNP would much prefer a Tory government. They just can't be say it in public.

That's exactly the game Sturgeon is playing. She's playing up to the Tory message as she hopes a Tory majority will create an unstoppable drive to independence.

Since he jumped ship from the Torygraph, it looks like Peter Oborne is becoming less enamoured with the tory party and their press attack dogs

I also like one twitter observation this morning: "The tories wheeling out John Major to bolster their election push is like Liverpool wheeling out Emile Heskey to help assure a top four place"

The pathetic first past the post system will deliver a strange democratic result in Scotland. SNP with 40% of the vote will gain 90% of the seats. d040.gif
