| Well maybe now would be a good time to read it, so you (and we) know exactly what it is you have agreed to, instead of all guessing round the houses?

Don’t know if you’ve already sorted this, but I wouldn’t cancel.
If this was me, I would contact my bank first and tell them to only pay the amount I initially agreed, I would then email SKY, (not much point in arguing over the phone at this point), advising them what I have done and why, informing them that as far as I’m concerned this is the terms of the contract which I agreed and would honour my side and expect them to do the same. Give them all the contact details they’ll need, and expect a call (see I’ve saved you money already ) be polite but firm, record the name of whom you have spoken to and when. Follow up all calls by email, stand your ground but keep paying your agreed amount. Good Luck.

| If you did, you'd be fibbing, since at this point, you've still not read the contract, and so can't make any claims to Sky what the terms are, because you don't know, and still can't be arrsed (apparently) to find out.
Also you can't tell the bank to "only pay X", they won't do it.

I haven’t done anything about this, I said what I would do, couldn’t I change the Direct Debit to Standing order? Failing that I’d cancel the DD and make payments by Cheque.
In October last my Daughter upgraded her phone (albeit the contract was in my name) at Carphone Warehouse, she was told by the shop assistant, if she wasn’t happy with anything she could give the phone back, cancel the contract, and simply walk away, which due to network issues with O2 at the time, she tried to do just that, taking out a new contract with Vodaphone (direct) in her own name (yeah before cancelling the old one ). When she took the first phone back to Carphone Warehouse the shop assistant said ‘Yeah that’s fine, but I have to get a manager to authorise the cancellation’. Manger came along and said ‘Cancellation policy only applies to ‘new’ contracts/phones and not upgrades therefore she couldn’t cancel. It says so in the terms and conditions on the back’. (which it did).
Now with two phones and two contracts, the fun began, we cancelled the direct debit and emailed them saying we had cancelled and why, also stating that we did possibly owe one final payment from the previous contract if they advised us how much we would be happy to pay it, eventually after several emails, a nice lady phoned she agreed that my daughter had been told incorrect information and although their policy is you cannot cancel on an upgrade, it was their fault due to poor communication and lack training that their shop assistant gave her the wrong info, and as a gesture of good will they would on this occasion cancel the O2 contract, wipe off the outstanding balance from the previous contract, apologised for the inconvenience and hope that we’d return to them when the contract is again up for renewal.

I never said about leaving, I said honour the contract that they believed that they'd agreed.
I only used the phone saga to illustrate if you are told one thing but the written contract says something else, be firm stand your ground and you can win.

I think it was fairly clear what I was getting at, to get Sky you have to pay Sky, one way or another.
Anyway, it matters not.

No you were talking crap and now you are trying to cover yourself, again.
As the premium channels are pay channels of course you have to pay, you do have a choice of provider, you'll still have the annual price rise though.
