| Quote: Lawrie L "Have a bit of respect, she was mother to someone
Never really understood that quote, so what springs to mind, or do we respect people just for giving birth?
We still have not fully seen the final repercussions for her reign and legacy and my personal venom for her springs not from being a Miners son, nor a shop floor labourer, not even for the position she and her government left the schools in or the lack of support shown for Falkland vets, it was and is for the specific wholesale pillage of this countries flawed but operational mental health system. Some of the most prime building land in Surrey was ripped from places such as Virginia Water, Epsom, Botleys, and Brookwood, where care and understanding of a massively wide variety of illness was beginning to be treatable with compassion and care, the days of total medicinal blackouts were behind us, and these thousands of people had a place to be safe and to be cared for, until she decided they would be better off on the streets and all of that land made available at pure pennies in the pound for the vultures who supported her to speculate on and build their fortunes with, scum each and every one of them.
Oh and back to her sweet kiddies, in common with the feelings today of the majority, she may well have been a mother, but the best part of them slid down her legs.

Here here
Its very difficult to think of many with a bigger ego than Thatcher but you have found a whole organisation that is just as megolomaniac as she was.
Good work fella

So you think that those people who had their pensions (their futures) robbed by Maxwell were out of order for celebrating his demise?

Struggling with reading - Blair came after not before!!
On Blair how about going into Iraq on the back of non-existent WMD - compare and contrast with the Falklands?

Sadly one of them still is but I doubt his kids want reminding of that too often.

I really need to find somewhere that sells the Morning Star tomorrow as that could make for an interesting read.

| The Torygraph earlier closed the comments section of the Thatcher story, requesting instead that people e-mailed their tributes. The was just tweeted by the editorTony Gallagher @gallaghereditor
We have closed comments on every #Thatcher story today - even our address to email tributes is filled with abuse[/i

Tesco/Asda/Sainsbury/Morribobs would have done that anyway - you cannot restrict the size of a firm in a competitive market, especially if said employer employes ten of thousands of people. So what would gentleman Jim done - asked Arthur!!

You can restrict the size of a firm in a competitive market quite easily.

Thank you for your admission that "a competitive market" reduces choice.

| Not only was she the friend of Pinochet she supported the Khmer Rouge.
You can always judge a person by the company they keep.

| ANC boycotting the funeral
And this is from Dali Tambo, son of former ANC president Oliver Tambo.
My gut reaction now is what it was at the time when she said my father was the leader of a terrorist organisation. I don't think she ever got it that every day she opposed sanctions, more people were dying, and that the best thing for the assets she wanted to protect was democracy.
Many lives were lost. It's a shame that we could never call her one of the champions of the liberation struggle. Normally we say that when one of us goes, the ANC ancestors will meet them at the pearly gates and give them a standing ovation. I think it's quite likely that when Margaret Thatcher reaches the pearly gates, the ANC will boycott the occasion.
