still worth putting in though IMO - the guy was a brilliant broadcaster and like Ted Lowe, Ron Pickering, 'Arry Capenter, Ken Woolstenholme et al, a legend on his own oche !

Just heard a comment on telly news that he lived in Harrogate . He had only just moved to Harrogate from Pudsey in very recent weeks . How do I know this as a fact ? My gaffer bought his house from him and he is just in the process of moving in . I have some of Sid's old garden furniture , and his bed , in my back garden . Got them for a bonfire I'm having this weekend .

I've just watched the tribute to him on Sky Sports.
His final interview, with the Grim Reaper hiding just outside the living room door. Got very emotional when talking about his tough upbringing in a north-east pit village.

Have seen several of these interviews over the years, ( Dennis Potter, Christopher HItchens, etc ) were the interviewee is terminally ill, and they make for fairly refreshing and revealing television.
