| I'm going to to be as harsh as FA, but I ing (most) hate smokers.
What is wrong with these people, if they're not littering they're standing out side door ways blowing smoke in your face when you leave.

| Think you'll find smoking in a company vehicle is illegal now too.

| Just to set one point straight, your employer should have no issue with you and this incident, you weren't smoking in the vehicle and the vehicle is just being used as a means of identifying you so unless there is a clause in your contract of employment for non-littering in public places or one that completely bans you from smoking anywhere then they have no complaint and probably wouldn't even have discussed it with you.
What would have happened had you not identified yourself is that eventually your employer would have received a letter informing them that a user of their vehicle was witnessed committing an offence, details of which would have been described, and your employer would be asked to identify the employee on that date.
Exactly the same thing happened to me some years ago when one of my employees was spotted flicking a cigarette out of one of my vans when driving, I dobbed him in of course.

| Bang to rights.
You were caught littering and served with a fixed penalty notice.
Stop whining and pay up.
Not only that but you seem to have taken some pride in making it take as long as possible.
No sympathy from me, I'd be in favour of doubling it to £150 for messing about.

| Quote Ferocious Aardvark="Ferocious Aardvark"Why do arrogant self-centred people like you just assume (as you clearly have, since you didn't spot the problem yourself) that society should deal with your filthy habit and clean up after your polluting arrse has left the building?
Yes, all boxes correctly ticked. Maybe all that is needed is for the penny to drop as to your obnoxious anti-social behaviour.'"
I could understand if they made me do an hours litter picking in the area, I'd happily accept that, but they don't want that, they want to line the coffers by fining people and do so at a price that covers the subcontractors wage too. I kow for a fact the council don't clean the car park it's done by staff employed by the Tesco on the site, where is my money going?

Paying a fine.
It's a punishment, not a contribution.

| A cig end is no different to a banana skin, a crisp packet or anything else that is no longer wanted and just dropped on the floor (litter). I have friends who would pick up their cig ends and if no bin around place it back in the cig packet until they had the next cig and could dispose of them properly.
You littered, you got spotted and fined. Stop whinging and pay the fine.

Holier than thou? I never drop crisp packets, bottles etc I have a plastic bag in my van to put my litter in and throw it in the bin when I get home and now I have a bottle with a little bit of water in so I can put my stumps into that when I'm done, there's no need for 1 or 2 posters on here to take the moral high ground as they have done.
I'd take a guess that 90% of smokers will throw their butts to the floor if there aren't any ash trays or bins with means to stub them out on.

| I've no issue with Apple cores and banana skins thrown in a field, they actually benefit nature but cig butts and crisp packets, no sympathy.

So why do you think its acceptable to throw a cig end on the floor???? Not holier than thou, just hate litter bugs, any litterbugs and that includes ones that throw cig ends on the floor and think nothing of it but will then say its different as no ashtrays around. Well, as you point out yourself you put your rubbish in a plastic bag, put your cig ends in your CAR ASHTRAY thats what its there for

| Just playing devils avocado here but cigarette butts are usually 100% degradable too being paper and tobacco and will probably disappear at the same rate as a banana skin.

Put my cig stumps in the vehicle ash tray? We aren't allowed to smoke in the vehicles and get audited with vehicle checks once a month, it would be good trying to explain I don't smoke in the vehicle and have an ash tray full of stumps with a vehicle that smells like an ash tray.
What they should have is provide a proper means to extinguish and dispose of cigarettes and then fine people for not using the proper means, in my experience the other day there wasn't one in sight on the retail park.
