It's been fun.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_44480.jpg

I was in a bar in Atlanta, and rather bravely/foolishly given I was a stranger (although I would do it again) was defending black people against these 2 overtly racist white Americans.
"Sure everyone of you liberals loves n---a's until you have to live with them"

I'd never heard anything as shocking in my life in the way it was so blatant, I pointed out I not only lived with black people but that my best friend was black which I thought might shut them up.
Replied with "that's part of the reason you're overrun with Muslims, they'll be in control soon and you'll be on your knees asking us to pull you out of the again like we did with the Germans"
I came back with only 4% of the UK is Muslim and that it was the Russians that really won the war.. "typical commie response, and that's why we run the world now not you".

I then realised that you can't argue with someone who is blind to facts and has their mind made up, I can deal with ignorance but wilfully ignorant is another thing.
It also made me question "free speech" in America, it can be quite disconcerting in fact.
Here it seems to be different, give people a platform on racism and they are usually crushed, allowing the BNP on to question time was a bold move, the correct move and in the end the final nail in their sorry coffins.

Bring in PR, initially I think it will be a bit rubbish with the right having a very big say, but I also think it will make Labour work harder to bring people back to the left, I think all the big parties have become complacent under fptp

Will be interesting to see whether this 180,000+ who have just paid £25 to vote are Corbyn fans or not. If they are, then you can see why the press / establishment deride him continuously - Labour now has 571,000 members and if the majority are supporting him that suggests people want serious change. It is not an insubstantial number to have made the effort to join and pay £3 / £25. For every one that has signed up there are probably 10 or more that have the same view but can't be bothered.

Or of that 180,000 , 150,000 are Tories who've paid to keep him at the helm of the rapidly sinking good ship Labour ?

Still trying to work out why others work very hard to make others rich so they can enjoy the benefits at the expense of those who actually create the wealth and then keep voting for a party who believe in a discredited unfair system that allows them to be exploited in such a way.
Then again people do have the right to be stupid.

It is, as they should've been from his first victory 9/10 months ago.

I speak as someone who didn't vote for Corbyn, but this has been politics at its absolute worst from many Labour MP's.

Whoever wins now the Party has to rally behind. If Smith wins I hope he's not as right wing as he used to be on many issues and that his left wing talk isn't just platitudes.

If Corbyn wins again the PLP has NO option but to get fully behind him.

Summed up well.

As for Owen Smith, he used work for Pfizer. That's enough for me.

A fantastically refreshing piece of common sense. I am, however, starting to worry about Corbyn's safety.

Jones is either clairvoyant or a very clever political analyst. It is all so frighteningly contrived. We, the public, are pawns played like the proverbial fiddle. Scary stuff.

By "refreshing" I assume you mean putting across views that chime with your own? They are both utter tripe as far as I can tell. The establishment might well fear a move towards socialism, but that has not and will not ever happen under Corbyn.

Perhaps the oddest thing for me with respect to so much of the commentary in favour of Corbyn is the sheer hypocrisy of it.

Firstly Corbynistas (I feel able to use that ridiculous term because Corbyn acolytes love to do the same) constantly bemoan him being demonised by the press whilst happily demonising Labour MPs who don't rate him (Blairites, Bliarites, Tory Lites, Neo-Libs, Red Tories etc etc).

The second issue is the irony of ignoring Corbyn's history of defying the party whip yet complaining about disloyalty of others. Somehow when Jeremy defied the party it was a moral stance, and yet when MPs defy him its disloyal? Just staggering hypocrisy.

The worst thing is that when some Labour MPs have reported threats from supposed Labour supporters for their lack of loyalty to the great man (who unlike Corbyn's fans actually have to work with him), its downplayed as just part of the hurly burly of politics, aided by Corbyn's pathetically lukewarm response. Corbyn himself has made (very thinly) veiled threats about deselection for MPs who who show disloyalty to him.

If it wasn't a major threat to democracy this whole thing would be laughable. Sadly the Judean People's Front vs People's Front of Judea is being played out real time by the supposed opposition.

For the record, I would have abandoned all principles to support the candidate who, when sending canvassing emails and texts, used the preferred name I supplied instead of my full first and middle names in all caps. It's an experience not unlike being shouted at by my mother.
