I for one wouldn't want to be policeman - many they risk their lives every day dealing with unpredictable members of society, many of whom have no value for human life. The level of provocation they receive going about their job is off the scale.

I guess the issue is when "getting it wrong" becomes an accepted part of the culture rather than something out of the ordinary. The issue I have is to tar everyone with the same brush. My own experience in the police is that there are good and bad, like every big organisation, and some constabularies are better than others. The worse ones do seem to have a dodgier culture and that needs addressing.

In my experience those people who cry ACAB or love to bash the police are always the first to want to get the police involved for the most trivial things. "Your didnt clear dog poo up, im calling the police"

When you're in a position of power then even a minority of bad eggs has the capacity to cause real problems. This isn't peculiar to just the police. For example, in my experience there is a small but noticeable amount of sociopaths in the teaching profession. Power simultaneously attracts fabulous people with a thirst for public service, and a range of nutters for whom the power is their only goal.
