A good or bad decision?

In my own opinion the childrens safety is paramount.
Apparently the foster couple had a signed photograph of Nigel Farage on their living room mantlepiece.

I don't think Rotherham Council had any other option.

What a load of ballacks,Why should someonces political views have anything to do with their ability to be a parent. If the parents were racist in the slightest then they would,nt have taken on the children.

These social service wallahs really me off, no doubt being given to a gay couple will be the safer option.

Don't suppose this alleged paedo ring and investigation in Rotherham has anything to do with this Rotherham council trying to cover their backsides from all angles.

Membership of UKIP just by itself shouldn't be a barrier.

The argument is that UKIP is against multiculturalism. If the fosterers share that view then it doesn't seem right that they should foster children from an ethnic minority background.

But UKIP is known overwhelmingly for its opposition to the UK's membership of the EU. It may be that the fosterers share that opposition and have joined UKIP solely for that reason. Opposition to the UK's membership of the EU shouldn't in iself disbar them from fostering children from an ethnic minority background. Many political parties have fringe policies that their members do not all share, or even know about.

If the Council had sat down with the fosterers and discussed their views on muticulturalism before reaching this decision then fair enough. But they shouldn't make the decision solely on the fact that they're members of UKIP.

I note they had been fostering for 7 year prior to this with no previous concerns.

A serious sanity check is needed here.

If you are refused the opportunity to do something because you are gay / black / transsexual, then you have suffered discrimination. All hell will break loose. The council would never, ever, have sought to remove the children in any of those circumstances.

Yet Rotherham Council have found it perfectly acceptable to deny someone the opportunity to foster, based on their membership of (what is now) a mainstream political party.

Nonsense like this needs to stop. I seriously hope the couple in question take the council to the cleaners. With public humiliation and job losses for the morons behind the decision.

What if they were only part-time racists and full time foster parents?

Must get a fair wedge for fostering 3 young un's nowadays.

The implications of this and the child abuse is, in my personal opinion, that Rotherham Council is rotten to the core and dangerously incompetent. All coincillors should be forced to step down as should all senior executives. It needs a new broom pushing through it.

Seen someone from Rotherham Council on TV trying to defend this.

Apparently the family did not meet the 'cultural and ethnic needs of the children' because they were members of a political party that 'opposed multiculturalism'.

Will we be removing natural children from families for similar reasons, should the parents oppose multiculturalism? Will this affect foster placements with gay parents, or Christians / Muslims who oppose gay marriage?

And perhaps most importantly, will we be removing children from foster families on the basis that their parents support Hull KR?

Unfortunately Social Services seem to be run by idiots these days.

Attempting to defend the indefensible. Shocking stuff and some people need to take a serious look at their decision making process.

People can have genuine concerns about immigration, it does not mean they are racist or want repatriation. Unfortunately, if you make your concerns public you seem to be demonised for it. There are many an immigrant from various countries who have concerns as well, the simple fact is we cannot have unchecked immigration as some would like and having a rational view that does not conform to some left wing ideologist social worker should be no bar to being a Foster carer.

I hope this couple sue the off these morons.

Multiculturalism is widely acknowledged to have failed. Except, perhaps, in the pages of the Guardian.

The fact that Rotherham Social Services are still banging on about it shows how out of touch they are.
