| So much for the games being for the people, I saw a card on Co-op Travel yesterday offering a night in London with a ticket for 'a final' (no sport mentioned) for £859. There was another for a 2 week all inclusive to Cuba for £839. What a bloody rip off (not the Cuba trip ).

| Hardly the fault of "the Olympics" if some chancers decide to use this to make money, is it?

| Basic laws of supply and demand I am afraid. There is someone out there who will pay that sort of money to go to an event. Likewise, I visit London regularly and am avoiding doing so during the Olympics as I am not paying stupid money for a hotel room.
If you really want to go start looking at websites in France and Germany for tickets. There is loads of availability. They are only supposed to sell to those resident in that country, but most websites couldn't give 2 hoots who buys them.

I think the high cost of tickets are partly to blame as well. Co-op Travel are hardly chancers, being ATOL and ABTA bonded.

I don't want to go, I was looking at something else. I will be in Egypt for 2 weeks while all the fun is going on.

Selling a night in a hotel and 1 ticket (?) for over £800 suggests an element of trying it on, regardless of their bona fides. Is it the Savoy or a Premier Inn?

That's nice. You might get star billing on Al Jazeera in an orange jump suit.

| Don't like it then don't pay it. Demand for tickets has by far outstripped supply for the first time in Olympic history making it a target for chancers, hotel prices in and around London started off sky-high, they are coming down as the rooms are not shifting.

| I have noted the creation of Olympic only travel lanes, meaning the average road user will get shafted, whilst officials and participants are ferried about in chauffeur driven BMWs.
I, for one, will be nowhere near the place. I plan to avoid London like the plague for the duration of the event.

| You do realise that you could all be potentially in breech of copyright law here?
All of the official names, phrases, trade marks, logos and designs related to the 2012 Games and the Olympic and Paralympic Movements (collectively referred to as the 'Games' Marks') are protected by law in a variety of ways.
The following are some of the current items that make up the Games' Marks

Not only that, all official vehicles (coaches & cars) are also chipped and can change traffic lights in their favour, as they approach.

| It is going to be an absolute nightmare. Unfortunately, I cannot be out of the country – and, therefore, out of the 'Olympic borough' – for that period. Waiting to find out working arrangements and hoping to be working at home for a chunk of it, which will at least mean being able to avoid one of the most busy areas of the centre of town.
I may go and see the torch, since it's passing by only about a 20-minute walk away, but that's not a given.
