I always find ringing them and telling them you are thinking of switching to one of their rivals helps them give you a better offer

| Is this the new thread?
Anyone had the new Blackberry Storm 2? How does it compare to the 9700 bold? I have a decision to make over the next few weeks. Storm currently winning.

Got the Storm 1 (couldn't work out what the difference between 1 and 2). Totally love it and wouldn't go back. The only thing that I'd consider if I was planning to change would be the iphone. Not sure if that's helpful or not!

3 do trade phone choice for better deals and IMO they have by far the best network and content. My experience with them has a halo ring over it and is remembered with angels playing harps compared to my experience with O2 which is akin to swimming naked through a sea of cheese graters.

rlSpec wiserl they look almost identical.
I guess the big decision is - do you want a physical keyboard or not?
To me the whole point of a Blackberry is that it is a great messaging device and the big selling point is the keyboard.
Even though the screen is bigger on the Storm, resolutions are the same, but because the Bold's screen is physically smaller the pixel density is higher and therefore is many cases the quality will look better.
Differences
Slight differences in audio/video format support. They both support the main formats (AAC, MP3, H.264 etc.)
+ for Storm
Enhanced (and faster) Bluetooth capabilities (may not be important)
8x more on board memory (2GB vs 256MB)
+ for Bold
Thinner and lighter
6 days extra quoted standby time (21 days vs 15 on the Storm)

| Err
Maybe I have got this wrong but if the phone can call other people and recieve calls from other people then dosn't it fulfill it's function?
So seeing as all phones are capable of that what makes them "crappy"?

Clearly you've never used a Nokia N96 ?
A phone that happily reboots itself at the drop of a hat, call or no call.

Thanks for that.
I think I like the Storm a little more because of it's similarity to the iphone and therefore it's bigger screen. I do however like the full keyboard! Choices!

| Iv just got myself a Blackberry bold 9700 and I must say im very impressed.
Not a big fan of touch screens but didn’t know how I would fair with the small keypad as im all fingers and thumbs. But its truly amazing.
Even better when only a week ago, 02 were going to charge me £100 for the handset to go on there 300 tariff at £25per month plus the additional £7.50 per month internet bolt on.
A week later I get’s the handset for free for the same tariff plus £180 credit to cover the cost of the internet bolt on.
Plus 25% off the Blackberry Bluetooth visor kit.

My son has the I-phone and was recently given the Nokia N-900 when he extended his contract, he kept his I-phone, kept the same number and I flogged his N-900 on e-bay for £380 (minus paypal, e-bay fees etc). They seem to be giving away some nice kit to tempt people to sign up, some are even giving away D telly's.

I'm in the same boat as your son. My Iphone contract expires in a 6 weeks. At present I am looking at taking a sim only deal on month by month until the new Iphone is released. This would be £20 per month.
The problem I have is that the new Iphone is rumoured to be April next year which means I have a whole 12 months to wait. Do I sign up for a 12 month deal and get the same deal for £15 per month or do I get a new phone and ebay it? Decisions, decisions, decisions. Then the Wife's iphone deal expires a month later!
