I'd love to imagine the reaction nowadays if the British government agreed to spending billions of pounds of government money on a joint project with the French and would even take the French spelling of the name. I’m not sure that is a full or fair reflection of the political, cultural and social status of Northern Ireland (or the North of Ireland as some would have it). It’s much more about nationalism (and good old sovereignty) than it is religion. Although I admit that they’re closely intertwined historically.

It’s hard to say that the partition of Ireland has been a success. Sorry Unionist community… it’s okay to support something that isn’t successful - I’m a Hull KR fan after all!

Sunak would be a better candidate but he has no chance now - so we are stuck with a big dog defender. Time will tell but I am not holding my breath. The only saving grace is the equal lack of quality in the labour party and the increasing power grabbing attitude of the unions.

The government are rubbish and so are the opposition. As saving graces go, it isn’t the most reassuring or inspirational.
