Quote Scarlet Pimpernell="Scarlet Pimpernell"The distance argument is new even for WQ but what about Ireland they are still further away than the U.K. but they managed to admit more Ukrainians but they don’t have Pritti as their Home Secretary.
A forces expert yesterday pointed out that the political decision to send arms actually weakens our own defences because they come out of our reserves. The sending of armoured vehicles was also questioned because of the complicated nature of these vehicles we would have to send military personnel over to show how to repair them and operate the internal equipment.'"
Im astounded it needed a "forces expert" to state the obvious......but what i don't get is why you are highlighting this ?
Should we not send arms if its detrimental to our own defences ?
Is it not weakening every single donor countries defences by sending arms ?
Also wonder if the "forces expert" was aware of the solution below in regards armoured vehicles.....

| Yes they were but I did say it was a political decision not one made by the armed forces. We have also reduced spending on all branches of the forces so our reserves were already at low levels. I believe we are looking to reduce the size of the army by 9000 reducing it’s strength to levels not seen for over 100 years when we are apparently at a dangerous time for Europe.

It's true, Chis, it was a decent bag
On a serious note and remembering that the Met are still investigating many of the other gatherings / parties / meetings, IF Boris and / or other Cabinet Ministers are found to have been "multiple offenders", should they stand down or, as JRM describes this issue, is it all just political "fluff" ?

How could it be anything other than a political decision?
Its not down to the Commander at Catterick Garrison !!!
I will ask again:
Are you suggesting we shouldn't send arms if it weakens our own defences?
I simply don't understand the point you are trying to make.
The plans to reduce the size of our armed forces was taken well before the Ukraine conflict and reasoning given(investment into high tech).

| The government use the excuse that this is a time of war therefore why weaken our own defences whilst at the same time sending over equipment they currently cannot use. I agree Ukraine need arms therefore why did the USA not take up the offer from Poland to allow their Mig jets to go to Ukraine and the USA replace them.
If I was being cynical it could be suggested that de Pfeffel is more interested in self preservation at any costs because we have to face facts that we were happy to allow Russian oligarchs to launder their money through the U.K. with some actually donating to the Conservatives.

Out of curiosity what military contribution have Ireland made?

Tories more upset about someone posting something not polite about their heroes on the internet than those same heroes breaking the law, repeatedly lying about it and then being fined by the Police.
It takes forelock tugging to a new level.

| I have no idea but based on the fact that the excuse you gave for our poor performance on Ukrainian refugees was distance from Ukraine. I was merely pointing out that Ireland is further away but have taken more thereby disproving your poor attempt to further excuse the government.

I suppose this means he accepts he was at a party or why pay because he was making it be known he would contest it. The conclusion therefore is he lied to Parliament and so did his Chancellor which usually requires honourable members to resign.

Why did you use Ireland as your example? Look up there military position. As has been pointed out there are many dimensions to war.
