Lots of strange things in our skies.....

I went walking/camping in North Yorkshire with a few mates in 1984. After spending an evening in the pub in Goathland we were treated to an amazing lightshow from an object in the sky which hovered and changed direction seemingly at will. We watched if for about five minutes before it disappeared vertically and went out of sight.

Earlier this year I was chatting to someone I first met a few years ago. Conversation turned to UFOs and rather embarrased she described an incident of a close encounter with a brightly lit object in the sky while she was working in a hotel, in Goathland, in 1984!

Aliens are as real as the following...

Unicorns.
Sasquach.
vampires.
people who claim to be from Carcassonne,
or kings from no land of rule with no subjects to reign over

I know the standard of education is lacking in Leigh and no one in Leigh has ever read a book but please research the Drake equation

FWIW I think there is probably life out there, somewhere, billions of light years away, but I have yet to see any conclusive evidence, including the above.

But yes I agree, and even if the Earth exists in a 'Goldilocks' zone, the claim that NO other life forms have developed somewhere among the estimated 10[size=7024[/size stars in the known universe seems illogical. An estimate that rises as our abilities of observation increase.

Personally, I like Arthur C Clarke's suggestion that lifeforms could exist in Jupiter's gasses and beneath the ice of Europa - and therefore by implication almost anywhere. Even in our upper atmosphere, perhaps?



But whether any of those lifeforms have developed interstellar travel and have somehow happened upon the Earth within the void, and are abducting rednecks, is another question entirely.
