On Sunday in a Facebook Group that I follow an American business promoted the "credit card knife" ideal for dog walkers who may be accosted whilst out walking their German Shepherd Dogs (the group) quickly follwed by an Australian and a Brit advising that if you carry a credit card with a concealed flick knife inside it (looks like a credit card but a bit thicker) then you'd likely end up in clink and anyway, what sort of idiot is going to accost someone out walking a German Shepherd ? It brought an apology from the business and a lot of questions about how could it be illegal in other country's to carry a knife for self defence to which there is little point in trying to explain because they don't really want to consider that arming yourself to the teeth when you walk the dog is a bit extreme.

In the same way that I could possibly be nicked for carrying my toolbag which has all sorts of stabby things in as well as a very sharp stanley knife for stripping cables - its all down to context and frankly if stopped then it would be obvious that a stanley knife is a tool of my trade and if you were stopped whilst wearing waders up to your armpits and a three foot diameter flatfish slung over your shoulder then they'd probably accept that your blade was for relieving said fish of its stomach contents.

If you're walking the streets of your local housing estate at night with a concealed knife though then I'd suggest that your explanation may need to be a bit more inventive.
