12411.jpg Sing a song of Yorkshire, from the Humber to the Tees
Of cricket, rugby, beer, of pudding and of cheese
I know no other county where the land is quite so fine
England's lovely county. And I'm proud to call it mine
Where shining purple heather stretches far across the moor
And the lapwing's cry above me takes the place of traffic roar
And peace comes drifting gently, there's no place I'd rather be
Than this land of hills and valleys, from the Pennines to the sea
So when I've done my roaming, and when my step grows slow
When heart and mind assure me that the time has come to go
Then let me rest in Yorkshire, for its there I want to lie
'Neath sun and wind and heather... and a gleaming Yorkshire sky:12411.jpg |

Ken Davy a local businessman and is the money man behind Hudds Giants. He employs 100's of people in the local area. Saved Hudds Giants when we were in trouble and saved Hudds Town when they were in trouble. He also changed the road signs in huddersfield from "Welcome to Kirklees" to "Welcome to Huddersfield". I little thing but shows how much he cares about the town.
To cut a long story short there is a protest against him by some sections of the Hudds Town (football) supporters as they think he is in the wrong over handling of the stadium shares. Not too long back Hudds Town were going to go bust and Ken Davy came in at the 11hr and bought Hudds Town. He pumped money into them and then when a suitable buyer came along sold the football club. At the time it was in the best interests of the rugby club that Ken bought Hudds Town as they had a 40% share in the stadium (Hudds Giants have 20% shares and the Council 40%). Without there income the stadium wouldnt be viable and as such Hudds Giants could have found themselves homeless. He took the 20% shares of the Giants and 40% shares of the football club and put them in a new company called Sporting Pride. This gave stability to both clubs and ensured that if either had financial troubles then the stadium wouldnt be jeopadised.
Since the transfer of the club to the new chairman the stadium shares have become a major issue. Ken Davy still has them (in Sporting Pride) and in Feb 2010 an agreement was reached to transfer these shares. The new Hudds Town owner then pulled out of this agreement and since then a large percentage of Hudds Town supporters have been slinging mud at Ken Davy and trying to tarnish his good name.
Even today Mr Davy says if he wants to sign the Feb 2010 agreement he can have the shares.
Hudds Town fans have been very vocal in their cristisim of Mr Davy. I think its only right that Hudds Giants fans are vocal in their support.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?: |

I was under the impression that road signs were the responsibility of the elected local authority ... Are you suggesting we should back some local businessman flashing his cash to subvert the political process for a personal whim?

Well, they had signs to tell you where the McAlpine Stadium was and they were changed to tell you where the Galpharm Stadium was ... if they were paid for by the local authority, something's not quite right.
