| What's the plan then? Only playing an hour might be a bit unpopular

| Only my opinion but I reckon we take things one step at a time. Remember we want to enjoy ourselves primarily so lets not use up too much time on drills.
My suggestion is that we play a game as normal with three exceptions.
1. Those that can play vs York next week form the basis of one of the sides so you can get some combinations going.
2. Introduce a rule where if a player is tackled short of the line anybody in his team not over the half way line in support has to do a forfeit of ten press ups. That'd make us back up more!
3. Introduce a rule where if a covering defender tackles a player before the line but there are defenders still running back in the opposite half of the field they have to do ten press ups too. That'd make people cover back more!
It'd prevent any quick PTBs in the game but would serve to make us not give up when a break by a player is made and encourage us to work for each other more. I fully expect to be doing plenty of press ups if we adopt this.
Any thoughts?

| I'd agree Bullseye but would simplify it. When a try is scored any player, be it defender or attacker, not in the attacking half of the field does ten press ups.
Wouldn'tdisrupt the fun of playing with drills but would encourage both support play and chasing back in defence.
Will also help the lads attain guns like mine!
We did it a few years ago and it worked.

| If anyone doesnt get back 3 times in a row they should do 1 finger pressups with a prop stood on their back.

Thanks for the simplification, fancy sitting next to me at work and helping out with other things I write?

| I suggest that instead of splitting into "League Team" and "Plebs" we split the backs and forwards in half to keep some sort of structure. After all, we will be playing with subs and the team will therefore change throughout the game(s).
As for drill practice, I think a warm-up session would not go amiss!
(even though I would hate it myself!)

Me prop, me big
I like the back up idea, why not do a ten minute warm up which is a set move or something. The thing that helped me a lot was the blind side passing thing we did which lasted 10 mins and i was able to put it in the game.

This idea worked really well on Monday I thought. A few times tries were prevented because more people were making an effort to get back.
I'm sure Mikey could've used the exercise too.

Agree- "some people" were just getting to the half way line and then stopping. If the emphasis is to "back-up" it's hoped in a real match situation players would follow through (if you'll pardon the expression) all the way. I personally benefited from the idea as I really don't like press-ups lol

Within no time they will be doing it as second nature and not because of the push ups.

Maybe it should be a third of the way from each tryline? Provided it's clearly marked!

But for you, Mr Muscle, you have to do push ups with claps, with me on your back.
