Quote: Bullseye "I think it's a bit disappointing that a democratic decision taken by all clubs at the last league meeting has been questioned and seemingly reversed so soon without any formal vote. Unless changes are made transparently and democratically then trouble is bound to ensue.
I think a learning point from this episode is that any rule changes need to be voted on by all members before being rolled out. If there is consultation, a meeting where issues can be discussed and then a vote then nobody can say they've not been consulted. Everything is above board and no decisions are made without the involvement of everyone. Until a vote has been taken we have to abide by decisions made at previous meetings. You can't make it up as you go along without a vote.
Being a volunteer is a thankless task, I've been there and done it. As chair you're always going to get flak from somewhere but by being above board and transparent in all dealings you can minimise the problems. These things happen so don't let it get you down!'"
